My advice to you: Take this as a lesson, and from now, keep multiple archived copies of your files. I have a fire "proof" (more like resistant) locking box in my closet which I keep critical files on, burned to DVD-R. I also keep exact copies of those DVD-R's by my computer.

Then, I have an external USB drive that I use norton ghost to make backups of my hard drive to, every night when I go to bed.

Of course, this is because I usually have mission-criticle data on my computer that is updated daily, so I have more of a reason to keep good backups than the average web-surfer/gamer.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, organized backups are you friend.

Kind of a moot point now since I discovered that some of my hardware for this project is dead, and I'm not sure I can find a replacement

i email myself .is use gmail and because most email service provider have a limit of 10mb by outgoing mail check yousendit.com, create as many gmail accounts as you need, i have 3 which is roughly a total of 7Gb. you should compress the file together in package that are less than a gig if you are going to use yousendit.com. this is the best way i found to back up since it would really be the end of the world as is know it if gmail crahsed and lose your files.

by the way if anyone need gmail invites i got plenty...

With yousendit.com aren't you only able to download the file for a short period? Doesn't the link stop working?
