It's an interesting Idea, but you would need to have country/worldwide recognition of this to work. Just emails going round may not bring enough awareness to it.

I always have Home on my phones, so someone could always phone home (wouldn't work if you live alone). And when I have found lost phones that is something I look for and have actually found on a couple of occasions. Mum/dad are other ones which would be quite common to look for.

If you lived alone then why would you need to put your home number in your mobile?

I think this has been taken too far out of context, even if borris was referring to the bombs in london with his exploding phone comment, then he could have just been told to keep his comments to himself on a thread that doesnt interest him

The idea is good but i also prefer the idea of using a more common term for emergancies as i doubt this scheme will be common practice for emergancy services to look in a phone book, see ICE and assume its for emergancies. I Currently have an entry titled "EMERGANCY CONTACT" in capitals, hopefully it should catch someones eye.

As for MP3Car going down hill, i think certain members need to realise that their time on here does not give them a superior intellect or right to talk down to new members as and when the mood takes them. I think there is a certain element of respect for others and the opinions of others that is lacking of late and it is the moderators/admins jobs to try and ensure that people are aware of what will and what wont be tolerated.

This has been going around the UK for a few weeks now - even before the bombings. ICE is bettere than EMERGENCY as you can have multiple ones...

    ICE Wife Home
    ICE Wife Mobile
    ICE Dad Mobile

    for example

    There's more details here:

    and

    http://www.icecontact.com/

Edit: And of course as it's thought up by the Ambulance Services, they will know what to look for in your phone.

Thats fine in east anglia where its being launched as ambulance services will be told to look in mobiles for an ICE entry, elsewhere it will probably mean nothing

Just like everything else done in the UK this is being done in a little area and the rest of the country is in the dark

So when you come home in the evening completely plastered and you can't remember which door is the front door to your house, you can just dial home and listen for the ringing and you'd know which house is yours. (although if you're so plastered you can't tell which door is yours, how the hell you going to a)find your phone and then b)find the entry home to dial I don't know)

or you could phone 'home' when you are out and if the phone is answered you know you are being burgled.
