I have a really bad memory when it comes to music but some of those bands rang some bells in my head.
You kind of gave a broad sounding range as far as bands go were you looking for a sound like another band or just something new?

Going through my collection off the top of my head i came up with

    Dry Kill logic
    Sw1tched
    Sevendust
    Soul Fly
    Lollipop Lust Kill
    sepultura
    killswitch engage
    rammstein
    deftones
    type o negative
    slayer
    Pantera
    Megadeath
    Metallica
    sabbat
    childern of bodom
    dream theater
    carnivore

Think i started going more toward the older sounding metal bands towards the end. i know i have more but that should get you started.

Not to thread highjack but anyone now of any bands that have a sound like type o negative, not like a clone of htem but just a deep darker sound to the music
    amd 1700, biostar m7ncg 400, hitachi deskstar 120 8mb , 512 pc2700, liliput 7"
now to put it all together

    Atomship
    Earshot
    Flaw
    Rammstein
    Nonpoint
    Breaking Benjamin
    Cold
    Korn
    Marylin Manson
    Otep
    Ozzy
    Scorpions
    Shinedown
    Staind
    Nickelback
    Thornly
    Theory of a Deadman
Dare I say it - even Avril has a couple harder sounding tracks...

Some (most) of these step into the slightly more modern pop-ish sound, but as long as it has a good, angry beat and can be cranked up, it works for me.

I'll have to check out some of the other stuff you folks have posted....

so this is the rock that I have...I'm looking to expand this....

    http://www.mj-garage.com/rock.htm

yes, I'm fully aware that I have some absolutely STRANGE stuff in there....really strange....and some of it I don't even know I have...lol

now I'll know what to look for via some of the bands y'all mentioned...

thing is, I buy a lot of cds, I download a lot of mp3s (or I did at one time)....the cds I buy are of the bands I like....it's a way to find out what else is out there since the radio blows and XM/sirius is just plain getting horrible in terms of SQ....so I have to make my own radio...lol

I love Shoutcast to get ideas for new music. There's pretty much some of everything you could want on that site. I frequently listen to Digitally Imported's "Chillout Ambient Psy" because there are (almost) no vocals, which distract me from work, but the music is good, which helps me concentrate and work. Of course, this doesn't work in my car, but I've gotten a lot of new and good music this way.
And a little OT: I'm working on a plugin and piece of hardware so that if I hear a song I like it'll write the song's title / artist / etc to a text file, and so that I can just have the controller be a single button anywhere in the room.
Old plans out the window because of an accident .
