    Reformating a P4P800

So I need to reformat my computer, BADLY, I normally would do it once a month but finally got a second hard drive and need to set up raid, and because I dont really want to go down that adventure I have put it off for like 6 months lol. But the time has come, school starts like tuesday I think and so need to get it done.

My question is this, anyone have any info on setting up RAID on a P4P800 mobo? I found some potential drivers but other than that couldnt find any posts or difinitive information, and the manual was pretty worthless as well. While I have my laptop I just dont want to embark down this path basically without some info or a plan lol.

I did setup RAID on a friends computer once but it was detailed instructions and included drivers lol. And they have a floppy disk which made it easier lol =P I actually should check maybe my CD does have drivers but I 99% dont think it does. So, any info?

If it matters two IDE 7200 RPM 120gb HDDs, one maxtor one WD. When I did search that the general concenus was optimally you dont want to RAID two HDDs that arent exactly the same, but it seems it works and since this is mostly a gaming/media machine it is hardly devestating if I get a crash and have to reformat. Everything of importance is handeled on other PCs.

What kind of raid are you looking to go with? raid0 raid5?

what is the ending number on that P4P800? because I have 2 different boards with that model number and neither one has hardware raid.

the P4P800C has hardware serial and IDE raid. It's the board I have, and I have SATA raid running. IIRC, the drivers are on the CD but you have to copy them to another CD for the windows installer to see them.

From what I understand, RAID 0 is pretty much worthless on a desktop PC unless you're doing lots of video work - A Raptor would probably be of much more use to you!
