I agree that he shouldn't of went off with the racism card. However, he was within boundaries mentioning Bush's incompetence and failure to react within time. The fundraiser was getting money up, because they needed help. "Hey, look, not even the President is helping, we need you!".

Bush is a penis-head for waiting. I seriusly think the man should resign from his job, simply because he causes more harm than good.

Ummmm.... since when are the critics experts on emergency response? Maybe it could have been faster - maybe not. I'm just a guy who watches the news, with no particular expertise of my own in the area of responding to hurricanes and floods, but I've not heard anybody WITH expertise comment about it being too slow. I've heard plenty of people who were understandably stressed out at the whole thing and don't want to spend one minute longer than absolutely necessary in that situation, but really.

There was a hurricane, and then the whole damn place was flooded. There are only so many roads going into/out of NO, and I think they are almost (if not absolutely) over bridges. Helicopters have been flying in and pulling out people by the bucketful, and getting shot at by complete idiots in the process. Personnel who should have been able to concentrate on search & rescue had to be diverted in order to address the roaming gangs. Etc., etc., etc.

I thnk the comparisons to 9-11 that have been casually thrown around are not really accurate. That was a very concentrated event that didn't disable the whole damn city the way the hurricane/flood did in NO. All the victims were in one pretty small area (looking only at NYC, and not counting the Pentagon or the PA crash at this point).

Anyway, I really hope we ARE doing everything we can for NO (and the other affected cities/areas). I find it hard to accept the idea that the rescue effort is in any way less than full merely because the victims are overwhelmingly black and/or poor. That being said, I would prefer to hear the assessment from somebody who knows what the hell they're talking about, rather than from some politician (or wannabe politician) with an axe to grind or some jerk-off rap star who doesn't know **** from shinola.

The idea that the poor and disenfranchised are put on the back-burner is pervasive in our society because the inequality is prevalent. The same thing will continue even in this situation.
For example, when hurricane Ivan flooded and destroyed my mom's house last year, she was told it would be at least two weeks (From two weeks after the storm) before a claims adjuster would be able to come to her property. After two weeks, she demanded to speak to her adjuster and was given his phone number. He told her he wouldnt be able to make it for at least another month, because he had at least 50 more CONDOS to inspect. Luckily he was a reasonable guy, and after convincing him that those folks were nice and cozy in their second homes, while she had nowhere to live, he came a few days later. He even rushed the paperwork thru the process past a few of the condo owners... this only happened because my mom was forward thinking and was able to touch the guys heart....
I find it hard to accept the idea that the rescue effort is in any way less than full merely because the victims are overwhelmingly black and/or poor.
Well they are debating the idea of housing them on cruise ships.... now if they could just get past the debating stage...

I was reading an interesting article that talked about how this whole huricane thing would hurt Bush's image no matter what he did. If anything bad ever happens anywhere to anybody it is going to be the Presidents fault.

Actually, I do have experience in Flooding, Emergency Response, and Emergency SCUBA-diving. This disaster could not of been averted, except by adding to those levee's, and even then it was a bad idea.

However, Bush did not act quick enough. The bridges were out. Fine. Boats. Hell, Any boats would do. Get the stuff as far as you can. What I'm wondering is Why the hell we're working on blocking up the levees, and draining NO right now, and there are people still stranded! Jeez, Rather than having the helicopter drop sangbags, have them pick people off the roofs. Have them airdrop food. The town is destroyed. Save the people.

What I would love to see is people in the surrouding districts in rubber boats, going out and pulling people off roofs, and helping out. Also, if the Gubern-ment has all this technology, such as Amphibious vehicles, and so-on, how come there not there? The most I've seen is a helicopter dropping a sand-bag on a hole in the levee. The next best thing was a standard 18-wheeler truck! WTF!

Additionally, I feel the president is very racist. I mean, come on. Look at how openly he attempted to attack the gays! The man is a walking *******. He's a turd-sandwhich.
