That's part of it, but it's more about knowledge & experience.

If a noob posts junk, then there's no point in flaming... It all gets stored in the database and is searchable. Might as well post something helpful (ie: go to FAQ) and be done with it. Hopefully no one will post more in that thread and it will die a quiet death.

You're forgetting about that certain percentage of n00bs that get ****ed off because they have to slog through posts for three days to locate an answer. Granted, that's a bull**** argument because they should either search better or tough it out...
But they get all indignant because you tell them the answer's already there. THEN they deserve the almighty flamethrower....

yeh so last my firned asks me to hand him the controller so i picked up the remote and through it to him, but he was like "WTF n00b! i meant the PS2 controller!!!11!" , i felt kinda bad after that.
