sounds like a big mix to me. A mission prob funded by russia with an astronat from malaysia. Does malaysia have the funds or the ability to do their own?
From CNN Science and Space
Does that mean Russia own the ISS?But only one will go into space in 2007 as part of a scientific mission on Russia's International Space Station.

ok from what i have gathered. I may be wrong. That Malaysia made a billion dollar deal with Russia for their nations defense. Im not sure but the way it sounds to me is that, Malaysia purchased 18 Sukhoi 30-MKM fighter jets from russia for 25million. The 25 million was part of the billion dollar defense deal as well as sending somone into space. Hmmm yeah something doesnt sound right. Creating an alliance with Russia as well as sending someone into space. They say that we may choose the person to go, but they have the ability to over ride our choice. ? This agreement was created in August 2003 and the launch to be set in 2007 aboard the Russia's Soyuz spacecraft. Where this craft is going or what this craft is, I dont know. Again this is what i gathered from bits and pieces of news.
now that is what i gatherd. The 25million i think is really supposed to be for space mission alone, along with the rest of the 875million to defense and jets, because in 1996 russia sold 50 of the jets to New Delhi for 1.8 billion. Either malaysia is gettin a good deal or the 25million does go just to the space program or the years have dropped the price.
someone let me know if im just really confusing myself.
edit: or they are not telling us how much they purchased the jets for.
edit2: here is something that might help http://www.space.com/news/ap_050823_...astronaut.html

jjh221, how's that research coming along? figured out where America fits into all that yet?
ISS is technically International, but only as far as its components go, meaning that each country contributes something to the whole. Russia and US have been the largest contributors, but apparently CNN is using its amazing foresight to tell us that with NASA being nowhere close to useful, ISS can be counted as Russian from now on, since its existence depends entirely on the Soyuz space ships which are Russian and launched by Russians. Fun stuff. You think US gonna be anywhere close to Moon anytime soon, if they can't even get to a space can 200 miles away?
I have found you an argument; I am not obliged to find you an understanding.
