The cut on my head is healed up pretty nicely, I'm going to the other guy's insurance company some time next week to have it looked at and they'll make me a claim settlement. I don't want lots of money, but I won't turn down a small settlement. They contected me, not the other way around.

I got a new car ('03 Acura RSX base model). The car's much nicer than the Civic, it handles better, it looks better. For the CarPC though, the interior is different enough that the custom case I built for the Civic doesn't fit in the same place. I don't like messing around out there in the cold weather, so this spring I'll be bringing what I have of the carputer out to see what I can do with it... The screen is my biggest issue though; I'll probably end up making it so that it can snap in place. I don't really want to lose my head unit.

On a side note, for anybody else out there, to avoid (hopefully) all those injuries that happened to him, heres a suggestion an agressive and tactical driver once taught me. Heres the secret, "Drive Through" Yup, thats right, turn the wheel of course, but hit the gas, but not the brakes. The reason I say that, is because all of these injuries (from the sound of it) came from a sudden deceleration, thats why the airbag when off. Your body went forward, slamming into the seatbelt, the airbag and something else by the way of it. But had you of hit the gas, your body would have been pushed into the back of the seat, you would not have had the airbag deployed, and you may have glanced off him a bit better, the car would have taken more damage, but at that point, who cares?! You only hit the gas when you know your going to hit him.

But yeah, Id like to see pics, the link isnt working on your server.

Thank you for your concern, but it just doesn't work that way. Your teacher was either misinformed or you misunderstood what he said. Accelerating may help on the race track with a 500HP car and people are going to rear-end you, but I only had about 3 seconds to respond from when he started coming into my lane to when we hit, and I was driving an '04 Civic HX - the one that's built for maximum fuel efficiency instead of performance. The guy who hit me had an SUV.

If I'd accelerated, I just would have been going faster when we hit and my injuries would have been worse. The 'something else' that my head hit was (I think, it happened very fast) the collapsed a-pillar that holds the windshield in place... hitting THAT faster might have made it catch my skull.

In short, this is very bad advice for everyday drivers.

As for my server, I won't be able to get another one up for a while since my living arrangements right now include a hotel room wherever my employer sends me. Here's probably the most illustrative picture of the accident though. It was taken the next day at the place where they towed the car.
