    not true.

Dont know what the stuff at $5 is but in the uk where our roads are wet and salty 9 month of the year 'waxoil' is used.

That or old engine oil brushed on every year.

I used to work for a funeral director who used the engine oil method. The problem was if you ever wanted to do anything under the bonnet you got covered in thick black sludge. and in wet weather any water blown onto the screen from the front end of the hearse was all greasy... happy days.

The bedliner is like a dry hardend tar or plastic...It dries in minutes and if you have to get under your car you dont' have to worry about getting covered in oil...

If you talking about paint protection, I'd reccomend getting a thick paste wax and putting it on your car's finish thats exposed to the salt sludge and just leave it, clean it off every so ofter, but its water proof and if its thick enough it will protect your paint.

as for under the car, I just reccomend a nice powerwashing and a bucket of simple green.

Never thought about using a bed liner under the car, it makes sense though.
