I posted that link because of the growing "hey, I've got a honda, therefore I'm cool" talk around here.

hmm, that sounds harsh, lemme explain:
I come to this site to get ideas about in-car computers and such--not to read about hondas. I get enough of this riceboy crap from my roomate who has a carbon-fiber racing hood, a 5" (no kidding) exaust tip, racing buckets, and no engine modifications.

I just dont want this to turn into honda-acura.net for geeks.

But, I think they were going to get together to talk about installing things in civics, not talking about installing fugly wings and bodykits on their cars

if we started a thread entitled "To All Chevy Fullsize mp3-r's" you'd be participating. The way i see it, there is plenty of computer related chat going on in the other fourms, and this was posted in the best place, OFF TOPIC.

So use your built in coping mechanisms.

I agree - The whole "Off-Topic" thing is why I suggested it in the first place. Everything is welcome here... with the exception of (A) major flames and (B) pr0n.

As for the beer issue... Rickard's Red... LOTS OF IT !!!

I don't think it was a flame, just a sort of rant. Perhaps a misunderstanding that this topic would turn into a rice topic?

For what it's worth, I am so very sick of every white urban rapper that drives a Honda trying to race me, that I might have responded to this topic in the same way. That's why I specifically responded with "I'm going to leave this one alone." I knew the direction it would take after the RiceBoyPage was posted.

Since this is in Off-Topic, it is none of my business to moderate it. However, if it turns in a ridiculous flame war I will just close the topic anyway. Flame on, but keep it nice.

For the record, since I started the topic, it was actually in response to another thread ( looked briefly, couldn’t find it) where 3 or 4 posts about something specific to the civic came up.

The intention of the topic, and cataloging the cars is simply my attempt to make information available to those who seek it.

Say your planing an install and you own a VW bug, I’m sure you would look over many different installs for different things, various hardware & software configs.... but at some point, you are very likely to come across a specific need for information relating to your make and modle. I saw this particular thread heading that way, and thought it would be a good opportunity to ask around.

I think it would be great to have indexs of all cars, with the ability to sort/search the data based on a wide variety of criteria. ( maybe I am looking for a keyboard, I would want to query all compact cars with numeric keypads) just an example.

I’m not great with SQL or databases. But I want to help in any way I can, so that’s the reason I posted the thread.

I looked at the posts, and I didn’t see that at all.

I’m not a member of *any* group, have no stickers, don’t like to race anyone, and don’t consider myself a performance driver, nor do I own a performance car.

I threw the comment about cornering in (really in jest) simply because your in a truck, and *many* cars sit lower to the ground, and could take a turn faster & harder with a lesser likelihood of flipping.
that’s a compact car / sedan thing, not a civic / driver ability / modified thing.

Your truck looks nice, you have a good install… I’m not ripping on you, or your car. I don’t think anyone should rip on anyone else’s ride, I’m here to talk tech. Not to trash cars.

i was looking at your site, and you were talking about interfacing the diagnostic port of the car to the computer... How is that coming along?

I have not invested that much time on that part, I got caught up in the A/C controlles, and that does relate to the interface, but I have not looked into it really.

However, a guy sent me a e-mail the other day with a link to free software for it ( I think) or at least I know its a link, I think the software is free...

So as soon as I finish the a/c I hope to move on to the above mentioned.

I was wrong, we weren’t talking civic stuff really.... other than the fact that it was a reliable car.

But I have had civic specific discussions in the past.
