after reading this post, I think I am just gonna put a master-power key switch somewhere to prevent this crap form happening while my truck is at it's second home, the transmission shop (7 trannys in 6,000 miles)

I hope you weren't going to aamco for tranny stuff.... where were you getting your tranny services from?

FWIW, We own a chevy with ~150k and no problems (yet). My prior ride was a 93 ford ranger with 206k miles.. Problems included a power steering hose, and ball joints (money pit eh?) still running well @ 250k now (so i hear).

Ok i will make it simple for u guys that have to worry about your setup when u take ur car to an auto shop. If u have done your home work correctly, u could have solved this SIMPLE problem by simply installing a seperate ON/OFF button that will kill the cpu even if the car is ON. Do you really think i want ppl messing with my setup when i take my car in for repair????????. If you have studied my setup u would realize i have an ON/OFF switch integrated into my TFT, it is diff from the on/off for the TFT. So all i have to do is turn it off and bang...no more power to BOX and they can hit all the buttons they want in the world, and it aint comming on. Worst case senerio is that i simple pull the plug for power to the box or just take my box out. Put it in my book bag and call it a day. I can also take LCD out if i really want.

Gizmo... you should really see what happens here with my setup. Even cops are still trying to figure it out.

The first 6 were under warranty (i only had to pay $50 for the first one because I bought an extended warranty when I bought the truck)

Then, after #6, the place I took it to told me that it was electrical and not mechanical reasons, so they said that it wasnt they're fault (even though they told me it was fixed).

I finally got stranded here in Nashville at 2 AM, so I had it towed to the dealer and had a heavy duty tranny put in, and I paid $2500 out of pocket. BUT THIS TIME, I not only got verbal assurances that if it was anything else it was covered under my 50,000 mile tranny warranty, I got it on tape.
