Thread: ebay scam???????

I've seen other Ebay scams, I've seen a guy trying to sell GPL'd software, so I emailed him, saying you can't do that, and he said it was a program his company made, and threatened to send his lawyer after me.
I just laughed at him.
Awful funny his company produced a program called "The Gimp" That was a picture editing program.

I don't bid on anything till a few hours before the end, then if I get out bidded, I wait till there's a few minutes left. If I'm out to win something, I will win it.. The problem is there's tons of others who power bid 60 seconds before the end, as they want to win it too, so at times I do get into wars.

Last auction I won was for a 6.4" LCD for 125.50+shipping... It took me bidding 5 seconds before close to ensure I got it, as someone else was sitting there bidding me out minutes before auction ends.

As for someone being able to "boost" the bid price off your proxy bid, and raise it just enough so that you pay max. I doubt that, as no one can see how much your proxy bid is for.

Oh, and lstrunk, nice one on the GPL.. Makes me wanna download all the junk off RedHat and sell it.. Well, on one note there is a way to sell GPL that's legal. You do not sell the product, you sell the CD it's burned to. No one would "Buy" RedHat unless they didn't feel like spending hours downloading. Thus you buy the CD and time saved. Either way though, trying to sell GPL software is a load of crap.. Would love to smack a few people around who do that, including RedHat..

I ONLY ever bid in the last 60 seconds of an ebay auction. I dont get why people bid days before they close. It only drives up the price.

Well, It still seems like I have been scammed at least a few times... I can't believe that cars can be sold on Ebay, I dont think I could bid on a car without actually seeing/inspecting it!

Likewise... I mean come on, 7 days left on an auction and people are bidding expecting to win? It's bloddy well stupid... Though I don't hold off till the last 60 seconds on most case, I usually bid an hour before then stop back and check a few min before end.. *shrugs*

You buy straight from Ubid. They ship and charge you for all products not some random company or having "Pay Pal" skim off the top. Ubid's auctions start and end daily not weekly or monthly.

Sorry, 35 words...i could easily go 1000 though on that topic. Ive been screwed five too many times on ebay
