    Wow!! Awesome - here in CT - that house would cost at least 325-400k. I need to move. You get like 1000 sq ft for what you paid, out here. I'm so sick of this area- the weather blows, the looong winters - I'm ready to hit up the N Carolina or VA area - check that out. The only thing is, my job out there (graphic designer) wouldn't pay anywhere near as well.

    I'm going to be looking in the next 1-2 years also, trying to save a big enough down payment now, as I can. If you can save a 20% down payment you avoid having to pay mortgage insurance, and that saves you a lot of ching.

    Real estate is smart. Renting - NOT! People don't realize that for the price of a rent, you can be chipping away at a home of your own. Once you OWN it, that means a lot more peace of mind, if you ever lose your job.

    I'm sure people realize that, dumbass. but when people own 3-4 houses, doesnt make much sense to burn gas and loose money when renters could pay if off and then some.

    we're continplating weather or not to buy a third house in myrtle beach for a rental property. no point in goin to myrtle beach when you have a place in ocean city. renting pays off.

    buy the home for $160,000. charge $2,000 a week for renting. pays off in 2 years (of coarse excluding taxes and assuming its not a perfect world and it wouldnt be rented out every week) but after 5 or 6 years, its all profit. then when the real esate blows up, sell the house and you make quit a profit.
