Thread: I'm a New Home Owner!!

Hey everyone. Seems like I'm joining the ranks with tons of other around here in terms of getting a new place. I closed on the 15th of December on my very own brand new home.

It's a tri-level with a basement, so it's effectively considered a quad. 1800 square feet finished, with the lower level and basement unfinished. There's no garage yet (another way to save money). Once completely finished, I'll add on about another 1000 square feet to the livable area (not including basement).

Plans for the new year are to get the driveway poured (concrete) asap, in the spring. Following that will be a detached garage, followed by finishing the lower level.

This is what $190K (no money down) will get you in the Chicago Suburbs these days. Price has already started to go up on my model, and it was the cheapest one my developer offered. I did get a bunch of small options which add up quick.



It's my first home, and definately a starter home. I'm not expecting to settle here, just using it to build up some equity. I'll be moving onto my next home in 2 - 3 years. Great thing about my place is that it's 100% BRAND NEW!



1 Year warranty comes with the place too, which is nice. Before my new appliances were installed:





This home would have been about $30k-$40k more if I had them finish the lower level and add their standard garage. Obviously I can do this for a lot cheaper.



Sweat equity was done by me in order to cover the down payment (no money down). Put in a couple weekends and save thousands. So, this house is the reason the site hasn't been updated in a month (www.mobile-effects.com).
