Looking back, I can say exactly all of your comments about the 1980 Diplomat I owned years ago. Damn, I miss that car.

Damn, now that I think more about it, I really miss my Diplo. That car was super comfy to drive, and quiet as a mouse, with the exception of the slant 6's trade mark valve chatter. That car never left me stranded, and handled great. No speed demon, but enough power to do the job.

But did yours have flip down headlights?

I miss mine too. My grandfather left it to me when he passed away. I had always wanted to fix it up, but one day the leaf spring broke and sat on the tires popping them. When they pulled it onto the bed, the heavy *** dented the street. Turns out that it had started to rust badly. No one wanted to put it up on the lift and that was that.

I keep my eyes open for them, but almost never see them. I saw one in great shape on bbay on ebay that suprisingly went for around 2000. I've seen others for 200 but they are always in florida or someplace far. So many of them were destroyed in movies like the Blues Brothers, etc.

That would be a great sleeper.

I remember a mail truck hitting me in it. I screamed at the guy, he flipped me off and talked ****. No papers, no damage. The paint had a scuff mark. My grandparents had taken out their fence in the woods I don't know how many times with it.

Not the best performance (None XRS) but at least it get you where you want to go and Home Depot friendly.
    Yes, Toyota Matrix.
Can't beat Toyota reliability, but somewhat cheap looking interial.
If you don't want to buy Toyota premium price, get the Pontiac Vibe for much cheaper.

You didn't miss anything with the hideaways, on the regis they looked like venetian blinds

Very plush and very roomy. You could have an orgy in the backseat. I remember putting a gym in the back seat, and a big old armoire without even taking it apart. Could pretty much lay almost flat out in the back seat.

I'm getting the urge to do some scouring again. Wish they weren't so hard to come by.

There's a guy around here who is selling a 1980(?) Mirauder for 2k. has under 70k original miles and factory tee's. I mention this because that ad reminded me of my old Magnum, which also had the headlight covers that looked like blinds.
