Post Engine for a 1983 Renault

I'm looking for an engine for a 1983 renault. This is kind of my pet project. Anyway, the head gasket on the old motor blew, but when trying to removed everything we found that the exhuast pipes were completely rusted to the engine. Since the bolts disinegrated from touch we can't get the engine out without breaking the pipes anyway but I'm still figuring it would be best to get a new engine. Any ideas?

    P.S. Its a Renault Alliance.

Are you looking for a swap? Try the Mazda 13B REW....hehehe...

It would be cheaper to cut the exaust bolts and then have a machine shop drill out the exaust bolt holes and rethread them. You're going to have to take the head to a machine shop anyway to mill the warped head...

Yes, it would be cheaper to cut the bolts and just get them rethreaded. Getting a new or used new engine would be great because the current was getting into the stage were a total rebuild would be the only to be less problematic. (Also, the head on the engine is just fine, except for being old, but only the gasket blew.)

Aaron Cake, will the Mazda 13B REW engine fit in a Renault Alliance or do you mean swap cars? O_o

I honestly don't know. I wasn't suggesting a new car though. Is the Renault rear wheel drive? If so, then it'll fit (with varying levels of difficulty). But if I am picturing the car I think I am, then 250HP @ 8000RPM would be pretty sweet...Add a few upgrades and a reliable 350 HP is possible...

Well, the Renault is front wheel drive, so how would this effect it?

A 250hp @ 8000rpm engine in a rusty light blue car would be so ghetto but nice. I'm going to get the body repainted later.

Front wheel drive eh? Couldn't be done without a LOT of custom work. Probably not worth it.
