Connecting SATA

DO any jumpers need to be set on the mobo to connect an SATA HD??

Not normally, it is usually done in the BIOS.

Make sure you have a floppy drive if you are installing Windows on the drive. You will need to pull the drivers from a floppy drive when installing Windows. Just a FYI if you didn't already know.

Don't connect both the Molex power connector and the SATA power connector or you may damage your drive. Read the label on top of the hard drive, it will probably say to leave the jumpers alone.

I found that one out the hard way

Had to go and buy a floppy drive so I could get Windoze to recognize my drive.

just did a new install with a SATA drive yesterday, without a floppy drive. no need to load drivers.

It depends on your chipset. Windows may feature the drivers for your board, but since many new chipsets have come out since Windows XP's release, the windows cd may not carry the drivers for the board.
