Exclamation Member rating - means nothing! Why do I have 1 star?

I noticed the member ratings under my name.
Why do I have like a 1 rating, the lowest?
Have I told anyone anything wrong?
I think I got a low rating because people are mad that I got a 15' IDE cable working.

If anything I should have a 5 star rating for showing that it does work and I am right and they are wrong.!!!

i am not certain of the reason you got one star but maby it was because of your confrontational style of posting. just my though.

    Lightbulb

Thanks for helping, I am actually a very nice person and help alot of my friends do all sorts of things. So I thought my help on this web forum would be appreciated too.

I just don't like when I have a idea and people shoot me down right away for mentioning it, without considering if it's feasible or not.

When I first posted here, everytime I asked a simple question people would say search blah blah blah, well if that's the case why is there even a forum. I don't care if people ask the same old question, I'm ready to answer it to help them. For example when people say "Hi, how are you?" are you suppose to say "Sorry, this has been covered numerous time, use the search feature newbie" . GET MY POINT?

    Cool

Don't know why you have a low rating, but about the search thing:

Almost every common topic has been covered before. As an example, long IDE cables are a very common topic. So it makes sense to use the search feature to look for answers before you post. There are quite a number of older members who just got tired of answering the same questions over and over, and left the forum. Using the search feature will help prevent this. It is standard good netiquette to search a forum or BBS before you post asking for help. As they say, RTFM.

Actually, I've noticed a couple of faq-sites opening up (two of them to date but I don't know where they are or who runs them... urls anyone?)

Wouldn't it be helpful to have these faq's condensed into one central FAQ and allow/take submissions for FAQ topics? Both Faq sites on their own were pretty lacking.

    Cool

I tried making the FAQ a year ago. It was highly organized, and covered nearly every topic. The effort fell apart though.

i dont think member rating should really be taken too seriously, i dont think many ppl use it, if ppl dont like ya post i think they just ignore it.
