Post What can you do with an old computer?

I am looking for creative uses for old computers since I now have 2 older computers. One is a 486DX2 at 80MHz and on is a Pentium at 90MHz. So please feel free to post anything you have done or know about that can make these relics somewhat useful once again. Im open to any suggestions.

Go here read up about turning your old PC into an Arcade game emulator...then build or purchase a cabinet and have your own arcade machine.

Here's a link to a freeware Dos program that allows a 286 or higher to do internet connection sharing.

In general, it's surprising how well old computers run when you put old software on them. Check the abandonware sites. You should find something.

Thats how all of my old systems have met their ends. After they ceace to work well they still provide a small bit of enjoyment by me filling them with holes. Its really alot of fun, try it sometime.

Here are some links to turn old computers into gateways/routers for sharing Internet connections, running web and files servers, etc.

Thanks for the responses guys. I think I might try out some of this stuff. I have a network in my houe so the router idea would apply and the arcade rig sounds fascinating. At the very least I could just strip down the systems for fans and cards and junk'em..maybe ill blow them up...so many possibilities.
