well so far, it looks like the votes have it. buyers need to respect sellers and if they ever have a problem, need to privately contact and not openly flame users.
Yes - refund him
No - 3 months is too long for testing/non-DOA
Partly
Other (please explain)
In October, I recieved $25 from a Ms. ********, presumably 0-l-3-3-l (0l33l ) mother, for a Audigy sound card. I packaged this sound card in a electrostatic bag, and then a large padded envelope. I shipped this out to him. I never heard anything from him.
A few months later, I got a PM from him stating that he was having trouble with the card. I replied to him that 3 months was far too long for a "non-DOA warranty", and that I was sorry, but unable to justify a refund, since it took him so long to report troubles.
Since then, he has been posting in several threads, including areas he was banned from, that I am a poor trader. I disagree with this, as my 102-0-0 feedback represents.
What it comes down to:
Should 0l33l be refunded be in full?
Should 0l33l be refunded partly?
Should 0l33l not be refunded at all?

No is what I am thinking but Did he even explain why he barley is contacting you about his problems with the item you sold him?
3 months? Heck no!
3 months?
Gesh, Wal-Mart won't even return something 3 months old!
even if he would have bought it from a store, he couldnt return it back to them after 3 months, usually stores have 14/30 return/exchange policies.

Haha, strange. I just had almost the EXACT same thing happen to me. The guy waited a long time to test a CPU I sold him, then demanded his money back because it would not Prime. What a mess. Best of luck on your choice!

in a way, i can understnad him, as i have bought things for my car's stereo that i havent' tested out yet as i am physcially incapable of. However, that's a USB sound card...he has computer access, he has testing abilities. Have him RMA it or shell out $80, and to the swap trick at circuit city or whereever. Dont' send him anythign back, that's a good price he got it for. And if he doesnt' ahve the respect to keep things quiet unless there's no resolution, then he shouldn't expect you to be that nice to him, period. Private seller is almost as good as as is since you had no warrenty expressed or imlied. It obviously worked when sent it...or did it;-). I vote no, keep the $25 and have him ebay it or sell it.

Ok... the story:
greenman100 (I will withhold his personal information, as by the rules. I reported his post for disclosing my information) sold me the sound card and assured me that it works.
Packaging - he put the card in a PADDED ENVELOPE! This was not a "large" padded envelope, but a small one. No box or anything. No stamp saying "fragile". So of course the mailman shoves the card into the mailbox (no, I don't live in a house with the good mailbox on a post, were the card would not have been damaged). So I take it out, open it, and the card arrived damaged. The backplate was bent. That was the visual inspection. I straightened it out with my hands and put it on top of my monitor, as I did not have 1/2 of my carputer parts.
For those that are going to ask why I did not test it out: I've got 3 working computers at home - my development machine, my laptop (which mom uses), and my 550mhz linux box which hasn't been turned on in months. I can't shove a PCI card into a laptop, and I would not have the slightest clue how to use it on my linux machine, as it doesn't even have speakers. And I do not want to touch my dev machine. Its my primary computer which runs the networked printers, has my source code, and the computer at which I do my homework. So I obviously do not want to cause any driver conflicts on it. I'm very hesitant to touch this machine, as it is sensitive. I've just recently formatted it after around 9 months. I think you get my point.
Finally I have time to assemble the carputer. A Abit NF8 and a Septron 2800+ I brought from a member. The computer works great. So I plug in the sound card and try to isntall the kXProject drivers for it. They say no card found. Then I get the drivers directly from creative. Still nothing. I extract the drivers, go to the device manager, and there is no hardware that doesn't have drivers, and the sound card is not listed in the "sound, video, and game controllers". I procede to PM greenman100.
I have offered to send him the sound card at my expense for a refund. I trusted his word that it would not be DOA. But I take that his word can't be trusted![]()
