Unlimited never means unlimited. It is just a nice marketing word that draws customers in. I know this first hand. The company I work for is running an unlimited promo, it just causes more trouble than good for all parties.

    That's not necesarily true.

Example: unlimited nights and weekeds/mobile to mobile on cell phones, unlimited internet access, etc....

    Peace,

True that, especially with Optimum Online. They've throttled me twice in the past 6 months. Bastards. :realmad:

Edit: and they don't notify you when you've been capped; all of a sudden your bandwith is cut: d/l is 1/2 half, and u/l is 1/10th of normal speed. When you call them and ask what's up they tell you that there's no problem, and only when you push them that "yes, there is an issue here" do they admit that you've been "throttled" and you'll have to wait 48+ hours for the security dept to call you back and undo the cap.

    Unlimited my ***.

Edit2: furthermore, they won't tell you what the criteria is for the throttling because you obviously don't want it to happen again, so they say "we can't disclose that information because it would lead to abuse of the service"... WHAT????!!!! Using the advertised bandwidth allocated to me is abusing the service?????????????????????? Is maxing out your credit card abusing the service? I don't hear the credit card companies complaining....

Sorry to go off-topic in your Netflix thread, but I just had to give another example of this bull****.

Same here. I have tried walmart, blockbuster AND netflix. All three have done the same to me. However, I still like netflix better than the others.

I am in the same position you are, having tried all three, I like Netflix the best. Although I agree with UM Fan's comment, it seems as if the DVDs are being slowed down. I am on the 5 at a time plan and I pay ~$32/mo.

Edit: Oh, and another gripe I have about them recently is that a lot more of the new releases seem to be on "Short" and "Long Wait" when I add them to my q.

Stupid class action suit. Read the contents of the long form on the NF site. NF has agreed to upgrade you to the next "DVD at once" level for ONE month if you join the CAS now. (And they get to keep throttling you ...) Not to mention if you join the suit you cannot sue them again. They are just being greedy bastards now.
