    What is up with Morpheus?

Ever since last night I can't connect and I get a message "Your version is too old to connect to the network. Please download updated version from www.musiccity.com.". I have heard rumors that they have been hacked, or shut down. There is nothing on their website, and in the chat room they are giving no answers other than they are experiencing technical difficulties and NOT to download any "updates". Anyone know the real deal?

One of my friends had the same problem too. i would say get something like Kazaa, WinMX, etc. for right now until you find out more. All of these p2p apps are pretty much the same. Good luck!

    Hey Maveric found your answer.....

    http://www.zeropaid.com/news/article.../02262002a.php

looks like network upgrades.... as some of the feedback suggests in Zeropaid.com, looks like Fasttrack does have a central server.... thus the ability to shut it down is a VERY real and EASY thing to do.... ala Napster....

I think Gnutella will become the king of filesharing once the RIAA tightens their grip.... new versions of Limewire/Bearshare are starting to get nice Fasttrak like abilities like swarm downloads/multidownloads/resumes/etc....

    ciao...
    Project - GAME OVER :(

Kazaa uses the same network as Morpheus, so if Morpheus is down so is Kazaa.

i made the switch to Kazaa lastnight from morpheus. i knew they were all on the music city network but one of my friends said his kazaa was working. for some strange reason kazaa is much better...all my downloads are completing and theyre going fast as hell...morpheus was a driblle and only 5% of the songs worked. strange

They aren't all on the "music city" network. They all use fasttrack as their file sharing engine, so its really fast tracks network if you are going to call it anyones. as well as the fact that its all peer to peer (supernodes and whatnot). The problem stems from not the network per say, but the music city servers that morpheus authenticates your user to, which is why grokster and kazaa have no problems.
