car pc as senior project (EE)

just curious.. has anyone done a car pc as a senior design project for an electrical engineering major?

i am gonna be a senior next year... and wondering if it would be an acceptable project for an electrical enginnering major.

For a EE, I would think something based off a micocontroller. Maybe a microcontroller based mp3 player or something like that, but to build a PC for car use, doesn't seem too acceptable.

I did a project for one of my senior Mechanical Engineering classes about making a fold-out screen, but it never worked out. The motion of the screen turned out to be just a little too complex to do in the elegant way that I wanted to do it.

I think you need to identify one area of carPC HW development and focus on that. Make your own DC-DC w/startup controller? Make a good backlight controller with autodim? There are several things you can do, but just hooking up the computer is trivial.
