WU is perfectly safe because you are receiving CASH. Just use common sense and don't ship till you get the CASH in your hand.
He goes to WU office, sends money, tells you the money transfer # and his name & country, you go to WU office and pick it up.

Anytime someone emails you about WESTERN UNION it is

    100%

    i say again

    100%

    SCAM

No one uses WU unless its someone you KNOW, wire transfers are easier, safer cheaper and those who need to send money instantly (without dealing with online people like PayPal) know you go bank account to bank account.

Yea, maybe Billy Bobs sister is gonna send some money WU to him, but its cuz he doesnt have a bank account, and neither does she.

Western Union is used only for scamming, when done online.

Dont listen to anyone else, they havent been burned.

There is no such thing as a place where you can safely have someone "send" a payment that is held until a shipment tracking # is given. PUHLEASE use common sense.

See my post above. The guy doesn't say "when you have the cash, contact me" he says:
as soon as you recieved a confirmation letter from the bank, get intouch with me
And, um, this scam couldn't be any more obvious:
am based in the uk and am shipping the item to my son in west africa.
Yes, you are correct that as a principle one should never ship anything before one has the cash, but in this specific case, someone is attempting to scam Cheekz185.
