Arby, if your eclipse is a manual, how many gears is it?
I just watched the Fast and the Furious again (for the 6th time) and in one of the starting sceens where Bryan is testing out his car (and he maxes out at 140mp/h) the car has 7 gears.

i think it shows him shifting into 2nd twice. (could be 3rd, trying to remember off the top of my head) anyway, you can see his hand do the same shift movement twice.
it ****ed me off too, when i saw it the first time. i actually screamed.... "hey thats 7 gears!!!"

Maybe he shifted into second twice, and the 7th one was reverse?

In a Popular Mechanics about a year ago, there was a question from a guy who's wife shifted their BMW into 1nd out of 5th (which as I understand is rather easy to do in BMW's due to their good trannys), anyways she blew the transmission up on the highway. Could you imagine being near her when that happened?

Now 5th to 1st that would make it go the engine go boom quickly. Must of been and older BMW cause mine won't let me shift into 1st unless I'm stopped or going around 1mph. (ie really really slow)

The "Semi-Quick and Mildly Enraged" is so full of mistakes it isn't even worth talking about.That movie just sucks. Slightly entertaining, but very annoying and totally inaccurate....

i remember vin diesel in the scene after the big race talking about double clutching. maybe they have that kind of setup. 1L-1H-2L-2H, etc?
