    monitor sleep and unsleep

I just got an idea for a screensaver-like program. you set it to bring your monitor out of its sleep mode at a specified time and play an mp3... kindof likea good morning or something. also have a quick enable option for going to bed etc. i have no idea how to implement this but if anyone would like to try, i would greatly appreciate it.

ummmm.... what does the monitor have to do with playing an mp3.... wouldnt you want the computer to run winamp (or suitable program) at a specified time. having the monitor on would do nothing, well for me at least. the sound is what is going to wake you up!!! i actually thought about this idea a while ago, but i soon scrapped it since my computer clock was super wacky and never kept the right time... stupid battery.

unless your computer lost the time settings completely, its not the battery thats at fault, its the fact that some motherboard time circuts are equivalient to that of a $3 watch, and a motherboard only querries it about once a second (instead of continuously on the cheap watch), which can cause time to drift.

And he really kinda collieded a few ideas and terms into one. And you're right, it really doesnt have anything to do with the apm of the computer with playing sounds and turning on the monitor. What you are looking for already exists as plugins for winamp alives (or atleast they did a few years ago when I toyed with those ideas). There's an alarm plugin that will start playing music at a predetermined time, and a sleep plugin that will stop/fade out winamp after a predetermined time.
