The fan controller.
Few months ago my old TV over heated. Have bought a new one in time for the world cup
PC needs cooling so why not one for TV?
Because I didnt want to open up the new TV, the controller sense the interference from the TV to see if its on or not. The pickup coil is a telephone pickup as used for recording.
The fan controller.
The 12cm fan double sided taped on the back of the TV and the controller is mounted just below it. The round bit next to the fan is the pickup coil.
you'd never think of cooling stuff like that, but let me tell you... I just replaced my cablebox with an HD version, and this damn thing is hot 24/7. Even when off... If i'm gonna put it into the tv stand, i'm def gettingsome fans... Now it's just below my Monitor, b/c my 20.1" Widescreen Monitor is 1080i/p compatible... Can't wait to get the DVI Component adapter from the manufacturer to hook it up, and have HDTV/PC on the same monitor... can't wait. Anyways: good idea... how does this ontroller work? Is it to just turn the fan on/off?
Yes my satellite box get really hot too. Because its inside the TV stand with a glass door, the DVD, VIDEO, SATELLITE and DVB receiver all gets really hot.Originally Posted by BoyNextDoor
My TV heres is on for like 20 hours a day so it is getting some real abuse. I though its wise to cool them down.
The controller just turns the fan on/off by sensing the TV electromagnetic noise. It be much better to open up the TV, cut a proper hole and tap directly to the +12V supply. Ill do that later on when the warranty expire.
The 12cm fan make abit of noise so I have to slow it down with a resistor.
