Doesn't surprise me. It comes from the same people who allow you to pay an extra fee at the airport and jump to the head of the security line rather than wait like all the other normal people. One more reason to despise Mr. Bush.

The President does not make bills. Congress does. The President then either signs it or vetoes it. Often people who misunderstand this will make statements like the above when Congress has a really dumb idea.Originally Posted by 2k1Toaster

That makes 21 Republican and 19 Democrat sponsors, 11 total from Florida. It seems to me that the idiocy is definitely bipartisan, but the Floridians are heavily for it. I think it's really one more reason to despise Florida, if anything.
...
I do believe it's a terrible idea. It's such a bad idea, in fact, that I have a really hard time believing that it will even make it to a vote in the Senate--assuming it passes in the House first.
Why can't they just leave **** alone?![]()

Isn't every politician a liar?
You hate bush because his ideology differs from yours. His idea of how to make this nation better, safer, stronger, etc. differs from your idea of the same.
If you hate Bush so much, I suggest you think long and hard about the decisions he's made and what you would do differently. Think about the potential consequences of your ideal choices for those circumstances.
Back on topic:
I've been doing some reading on Net Neutrality.
Basically, the politicisans don't see the internet for what it truly is. They view it as a service that is provided by a company, much like telephone service or cable TV. To a certain extent this is true, but the use of the internet by individuals varies so greatly. We hang out on these forums. Some people write code. Some people play games. Some people download porn. Some people download cat pictures. Some people have internet access and don't use it because they don't know how.
Whatever.
I'm not going to go into details about what this stupid bill proposes. Suffice to say that it's stupid and if passed, it will affect the way you get online and what you're able to do while you're online.
If you order telephone service, you can get any telephone, connect it and call whoever the hell you want, whether it's your grandmother or a $1.99 phone sex line. The equipment, connections and service is standardized.
Internet service should be the same way, period.
I've been following it for a few months now, and get more and more ****ed about it by the day. I've called, written letters, and been trying to get other people involved, but most say "that'll never happen, so why worry about it."
Here's a link to the large internet coalition about the issue
http://www.savetheinternet.com/
Also, this issue is large enough that it was able to bring two groups, on polar oppsoits of the political compass together. It's brought MoveOn.org, a left wing activist group together with the Chrisitan Coalition, a very right wing activist group.
For something to bring those two together, it would have to be huge, and this is indeed, huge. Please help get the word out. You can also find some more information on http://www.eff.org through the Electronic Frontier Foundation (kinda like an ACLU about technology)
Sorry, but that was tongue in cheek... I just think it is interesting that every problem is blamed on Bush.Originally Posted by got2liv4him
