I don't know who told you that Sac is the "second SV" but umm... well the place is pretty damn boring IMO. Yeah, SF is fine and fun and all, but it's 2 hrs away from Sacramento at the minimum... Wouldn't you rather head the way of LA or Mexico?
Well, its that time again. I have to choose which school I want to go to, San Diego St. University or Sacramento St. I am really conflicted as to where to go.
San Diego:
Nice beaches, nice school, tons of things to do, and the number 4 city in the nation for singles. The one downside is that my ex girlfriend who I was going to marry who just left me who totaly shattered me is going to be there.... I know its a big school, but I will probally run into her sometime.
Sacramento: Nice school, "the second silicon valley", and the exact opposite way from the old gf.. Hum.... good Basketball team, San Fran, the Beach, and the mountains are oh so close..
Oh what oh what do I do..... Heh. me so confused! Where would you guys go? Keep in mind I am not a partier, drinking, druggie, or sex monger. I drink a few with friends, won't touch and kind of illegal drug (and never have), don't feel comfortable at parties since I don't drink ect, and don't want to have sex (well I do want to again, but it totaly makes things more complicated) untill I get married. So dont tell me San Diego to be crazy :P

well, I have a teacher here at my college now that says te community in sacramento is more technology based and there are more information system jobs up there. I also have a uncle who is a project manager with EDS up there in Folsom who says its a great place for technology jobs and internships ect. But, my teacjer says that both programs are JUST as good, but San Diego is more fun =) So, I think I have made up my mind. San Diego, here I come!
Anyone here from San Diego?

Go for an engineering focus more than a networking/support focus. There's more life in a programmer's career than just a network support career.
I went to the same Uni as someone from my home town, I think I ran into them a total of 3 times during my time there. It won't be a problem.Originally posted by crazyshaxs

Which do you like more beaches or mountains? Both has there pros and cons, personally I'd say there's more in the mountains for the none party type.

And you say people actually pay money for M$ Windows?

lol - a man of my caliburI'm stuck in the same position sorta. I got disillusioned with programming when I took an internship at EA. Made it so that I didn't want to study anymore and that made calculus 2 impossible to pass. =/
Crazy...where are you originally from?
I am originally from the LA area and have had friends go to San Diego and Sacramento. One of my friends left Sacramento after a year, and he wasn't the partying type as well. He just found it really boring out there. I have had a lot of friends go to San Diego, some partiers, some not......all of them stayed there to graduate and loved it.
My vote would be for San Diego...but its your life!! You can always transfer, so its not completely a life or death decision.
Hope that helps!!
<----- read the post headers d00de... says "Oakland, CA"
My cousins live up in Sac. IMO, it's boring out there. You have to drive 2 hours to get to Reno/Tahoe Nevada, or 1 Hr to Vallejo for Marine World, or 4 Hrs. to SF Bay Area, and around Sacramento proper... well you don't really hear about major events going down out there
With San Diego, if you're bored you can always get a uber-tan and play "tag, you're it" with the border patrol... lol (not to mention Las Vegas, Disneyland, Los Angeles in general, etc...)
Craxylittle...true!, but I was referring to Craxyshaxs...who was the original topic starter....his location just says....California.
