    haha, i knew i used their CDs as targets for my pellet gun for a reason....

    I have friends who pay for both AOL and Optonline because "AOL is better than IE" My brain cells cried out in such pain, i didn't know what to say

    I've had aol charges mystically appear on a CC- when I called them to snap they said I signed a contract or some ****- so I had my cards cancelled and replaced. effers got me for 2 months services!
    current system: car2pc adapter playing aux in for a sansa fuze media player. simple. cheap. effective.

    Well, I worked for an ISP for a while, and a callers, for the most part, are liers and cheaters.

    Now, I agree, he should cancel the account with out a problem. But, why the guy would lie about it escapes me.

    First, the AOL software does not matter when it comes to accessing the account. You can access the account through the web.

    Be that as it may, the cancelation SHOULD have been easier.

    I also wonder why he was recording the conversation to begin with. Seems a little fishy to me.

    By the way, I had AOL for about 10 years, and recently canceled it, and it took about 3 minutes to do.

    in my case I think my card was used without my consent. I've had a wifi connection for years and have absolutely no need for their sub-par services.

    I had a very similar experience cancelling my account as well. He kept asking what was wrong, how can we make it better. Can we offer you 2 free months. But wouldn't cancel the accout, took like 10 minutes.

    The best thing to do when cancelling any type of account like that (Internet/Sattalite/Phone/Cable/whatever...) just tell them that you're moving to another country for 2 years, and you won't be needing the service. There's nothing they can say to try to get you to keep the service if you tell them something like that.

    I've moved to Japan now like 10X.....

    The reason it's so difficult to cancel these subscription services, whether it be AOL, or cellular, or whatever, is because you may think you're speaking with a rep in the "Cancellations Department".. but you're actually speaking with the "Customer Retention Department."

    Yeah, usually what I do if I start having problems cancelling a serivce, I'll ask to speak to a mangaer/higher up... usually that get's it done quicker....
