Ulcer..? Is there a doctor in the house?

    Man I hate getting old.

So for the past two days I have this pain, kind of like a hunger pain, but it comes and goes and it feels like it's at the top of my stomach, right below my sternum.. at the same time I have this feeling like I ate a massive meal and am full.. but I haven't eaten that much because I haven't really been hungry and I've felt nauseous the whole day today.. left work because I thought I was going to throw up.

From what I've been reading the symptoms point towards a peptic ulcer.. ugh..

Anyone else been through this kind of stuff?

Firstly, as far as I know, peptic ulcers only happen in your intestines.

I get similar symptoms, but I think its just bad heart burn, or uh, acid reflux is what the technical term is.

Here is a wikipedia definition of the symptoms, its exactly what I get.

"Heartburn is the major symptom of acid in the esophagus, characterized by a burning discomfort behind the breastbone (sternum). Findings in GERD include esophagitis (reflux esophagitis) – inflammatory changes in the esophageal lining (mucosa) – strictures, difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), and chronic chest pain. Patients may have only one of those findings. Atypical symptoms of GERD include cough, hoarseness, changes of the voice, chronic ear ache, or sinusitis. Complicatons of GERD include stricture formation, Barrett's esophagus, esophageal ulcers and possibly even lead to esophageal cancer.

Occasional heartburn is common but does not necessarily mean one has GERD. Patients that have heartburn symptoms more than once a week are at risk of developing GERD. A hiatal hernia is usually asymptomatic, but the presence of a hiatal hernia is a risk factor for development of GERD."

You should maybe go to a doctor if you want be sure. Hope this helps.

disclaimer im not doctor. but have had an experience or 2. it might be heartburn liek said. goto a walgreens and pick up a zantac. and see if the pain goes away. thats for heartburn. or if you can get your hands on some prevacid. its for ulcers. or stomach probs. it tells your body to chill on acid production somewhat. hell even pepto will help some. BTE. it is possible its your diet or some nutrient supplenment your taking. but if the pain doesnt go away within a week, go to your doctor and get checked out.

Definitely not heartburn, I know what that feels like. Pepto bismol and Tums aren't helping.. that was my first course of action. No diet supplements; well other than the pack of smokes and 3-4 cups of coffee daily.

I intend to see a doctor tomorrow if this thing isn't gone. Thing is that my doctor's a douchebag and hasn't been able to treat me for anything I've gone to him so far. So.. either I'll need to tell him what's wrong with me, or find a new doctor.

Yes, I know the latter choice is the smart choice.. but what do I do.. close my eyes, open the phonebook, and point to a name? I have a feeling that's how I wound up with this smuck.

What dr does your friends use? People at the workplace?? Ask around man, get some recommendations. Chill out with the coffee too, that could be causing some irritation. Tannic acid eats the mucous lining of your esophagus.

i like that you told him to chill on the coffee, but didn't mention the pack of smokes a day.

    coffee is bad for you.
