I would strongly recommend using the purchasing services provided by your Auto Club (AAA). They saved me $4000 on my new Dodge P/U.
As far as domestics vs. imports, I have owned both, and the worst piece of crap I ever owned was my '97 Sonoma. The best (most reliable) vehicle I ever owned was my '71 Nova (250 straight 6 and a three speed on the floor). We sold it with 230,000 original miles, and the new owner drove it away. For me, the Dodge was my only real choice as I needed a full size pickup. After my experience with the Sonoma, I wasn't going to give GM any more of my money for a plastic clad piece of crap, Ford engineers can't build an automatic transmission for **** and the Toyota Tundra isn't a real full size, and is way too expensive for its "competition"

Sweet S2000!
Squeezer:
That is a nice car. I've always wanted to put a high rpm honda motor into an old MG or Triumph, I bet it's fast (and I'm a Chevy 5.7l type of person). You ought to get one of Hondas large street bikes to compliment it, just watch out for sand and armadillos.
My view on domestic vs. foreign. Newest models back to the 80's foreign cars are more reliable. But in older domestics (back when ever manufacturer was trying to out do its competition) domestic cars from then have proven themselves over the course of time. My uncle has a 68 GMC pickup that as far as I know has the original engine and it still runs. My dad used to have a 73 nova that he sold a few years back that was still running fine. And he has a 70 C10 pickup that he drives now. But like I said every company was trying to out do the next therefor they put hard work into those vehicles, and it shows.![]()
On the other hand I have an 85 S-10 blazer and its on its second engine... and it will need a new tranny within the next few years most likely.
My family has always bought domestic vehicles with the exception of my grandmother who bought a 97 Camry used about 3 months ago... so I can't really compare.
BTW Sqeezer, it doesn't matter if you think you look ugly when you have a car like that...lol.
Im not trying to argue against or for anyone just sharing my views... remember: "to each his own."

Lots of people have had great success putting either the NA or turbo 13B rotary from the '86-'92 RX-7 into MGs...I believe there is even a kit available...I doubt the rotary is larger than the the stock 4 cyl, so the weight balance is probably not effected....If you want to get insane, the twin turbo 13BREW from the 93-present RX-7 makes about 255HP from the factory, and with basic mods will put out over 350HP reliably...If you want to get absolutely crotch-grabbingly-crazy, the 20B three rotor twin turbo (available as a Japan import off the Cosmo Sedan) does 500HP without breaking a sweat...Originally posted by alan889

I see that you would like to have a mid 90's F-Body (Camaro/Firebird).
That would be the best choice in my opition.
I have a 94 Trans Am with a infient amount of possiblitys to make it faster or look better. Also they are nice and very nice ride, and can I say Quick from the factory.

nope, probably from us. The Japs stole the idea of the small two seater sports car from britain with the MGB, the spitfire and the Elan, and gave back the S2000, the Mazda MX5. Even Carroll Shelby (a god amongst petrol heads) use the AC Ace as the body/chassis for the Cobra. AC was and is a british company.Originally Posted by alan889

My friend just bought a perfectly clean 95 corvette with under 50k miles for $14k I suggest you look around - they are both reliable and hot.
