That sounds to me like an insult, if it was said by a standard member they'd be breaking the forum rules and should expect a repremand, but coming from a moderator i see it as irresponsible behavior.
If you think that you are above everyone and have the right to insult members then you do not deserve moderator status and should be stripped of rank, if it was a slip of the tongue so to speak then i think you need to appologise and make it clear to all members that you were wrong.
This is my first day as an official member but i have been reading this great forum for a long time now. What a surprise it was to see that this thread was on top and how it changed from the begining to end.
I have a few observations
1- there are no sexual suggestions made in any of the posts
2- the statements are ambiguous, when i first read them, i was thinking of 2 mods tag teaming - getting behind, being behind meaning supporting??
3- 2 names mentioned in the comments but only 1 who posted a reply. Predisposed mind towards such a negative definition of the comments made? The other party mentioned made no such accusation. Thinking too much of this?
4- 3 people made comments but why only were the two new guys banned?
It seems some newer members or n00bs in this case are always being harassed. First it was n00b bashing and the ever popular "RTFM" "Search!" and "it's been covered already" and now it's targeting newbies as a point of release for comments and putdowns from other members. It was not discussed nor were the comments made clearly in a sexual manner. This is one of the reasons why i had not signed up earlier. It was always easier to look and not ask for fear of public embarassment.
Yes i have looked at other posts by both of the banned members and have found some to be a bit strong on language or content, but this is not a matter of sexual harassment but a matter of one person's opinion swaying the context of a whole thread. yrean is right, this is the internet and people will say stupid things. No doubt this first post will be my last post because a n00b post will attract the most evil reactions from mods in almost all forums. I am a newbie by my signup date but i have had enough time to know the culture of this forum.
By banning people from forums without warining (none were seen on the posts unless they were PM the warnings, then i apologize) you are effectively saying that they have no right to explain their actions and by doing so, have already judged and sentenced them. We live in a land where people are innocent until proven guilty, but you hypocrites seem to want nothing of that. And it does appear that the evidence is being destroyed 1 post at a time and the last quote by the third member is gone.
thats the hypocrytical part. do as i say not as i do. like i said i thought what was said was in bad taste but in a thread called bash a mod started by a mod. hmmm.. .i guess that was asking for trouble in the first place...
And for the record i never said sit back or shut up or any such thing. I said welcome to the internet. not everyone says what you want them to. As a mod you need to moderate. if someone says something that breaks the rules, you take care of it, by 1 a warning then a temp ban etc(public warnings work best then you can warn the general group), 2 you could of just deleted the offensive comment and left the words(not appropriate) where there post used to be. You could of locked the thread. etc etc etc. Instead you took it personaly and lashed out, then did the same thing yourself you lashed out against. Being a mod means you have to grow a thicker skin, not everyone is going to like you as a mod, that just the way it is. its not a women vs man thing, its just the way it is. If you constantly take things personally, then your not being a mod, your just abusing powers.
