crikey! He was a hoot! Such a shame

Just received this latest news.

I think it's fitting that he went out doing what he was doing. He was helping to educate and entertain and putting himself in the presence of dangerous animals as a part of that.
He went out doing what he loved doing, which is all anyone can ask for.

Exactly. Better he went out doing what he enjoyed than doing some other daily task. He did a lot of good, so hopefully others will continue his work.

a few weeks ago, a guy came into my work while I was off the clock, asking about some mysterious fish he caught, appearing to be a mutantly large skate (local neucense) I told him, yeah that would be a sting ray, they're everywhere. he had no clue what one was and even the owner of my marina wouldnt beleive me telling them they're extremely dangerous. no proof on the internet really, just "can cause a painful sting" and whatnot....untill now.

I remember being 9 years old, fishing off a 16' bayliner capri, beat to hell, hot long day of no keepers....me, probably 4' even, thought i was snagged on the bottom. my dad started to reel the line in as a 5'+ shadow crawled upward and the entire boat was dragged 3ft a second. crazy. it was a stingray

....and i swam in there a week or so ago...

between the bullsharks, tigersharks, blue sharks, thrasher sharks, 602 lb mako's (this years tournament winner), sting rays, and snapper infestations, im a little iffy about swimming in oc now that i think about it. saw two 7' bullsharks mating 100 yrds off the beach a year ago.. I heard they pay people off, to this day, to prevent a loss of attraction. I've seen pictures of 11' tiger's right off the rocks in the inlet....
