I have an Acer monitor, but have no brick...

I got this Acer monitor, (a gift) but it didn't come with the power adaptor, which needs to be a 19V 3.16Amp converter. Found them online, but they're a little pricey. Can I make my own (cheap) unit?
Like go to radio shack and get regulators like we do for carPC's (12V-5V).
Is this easily (cheaply) done when one needs to go from AC to DC?

You should try to find an old laptop adapter that does 19V at 4A or more.
Then just splice the ends and make your own connector.
