I have a great invention, but...

I have an idea for something, it would retail for only around $12.00 each, but many people would buy it. (not PC related)
Many people would buy 2 or more.

I'm afraid to contact those online "invention" places. (don't trust them)
Doing a patent is really no protection. (from what I hear)
I have no money to design/build/market it.

    I'm a 100% this is a big seller, I wish I had one.
Hint: it would greatly reduce a monthly bill that most everyone has.

    Now what?

    EDIT: Investor(s) needed...'bout $50K.....

    is it... free porno?

    sorry. had to go there.

Really though, private investors are the way to go. You should really patent it though. I would say get all your info from http://www.uspto.gov/. Though there's always disputes on ownership/violations of copyrights, at least you can fend off the small guys. Also, though you've probably already looked, you should be able to find out if your idea conflicts with something that's already been patented. Good luck!

    Me too

Honestly, if you are 100% sure about your invention that you gonna make money, 50K is nothing. You can easily raise that, borrow money save or whatever.

Then pay it back, not a problem is it?

    And whats the 50K for?

Have you built a prototype atleast? If you only need 50K im sure the item is not that expensive to make.

Get a "provisional petent". They cost somewere $80. Then you'd actually be able to tell people what the invention is without the fear of them stealing it and marketing it as their own, as you have a patent pending. Oh, also do a search of the patent website to see if someone had the same idea.

$50K?...The product itself is is quite simple to manufacture. It would fall under the "as seen on TV" category. 50K was just a number. The product would probably cost 5 bucks to build, so I'm picturing 50K as enough.

    @Quattro....No

Provisional Patent?....I'll check that out. Thanks.

Get a sample done, just to see if it would even work.

How much do you need to make one prototype? Do you need specialised equipment to get one done? or can you make one yourself?
