    Can't we just nuke California?!?!?!?!?

    http://today.reuters.com/news/articl...&from=business

Basically, the state of California is suing GM, Ford, Toyota, Daimler-Chrysler, Nissan and Honda for global warming.

    What the hell?
Now, I'm not so stupid as to believe that automobile emissions aren't harmful to the environment. Hell, any exhaust gases are harmful to the environment. That includes factories, aircraft, automobiles, and even cows. The only exception might be plants...
    But I digress.

As a result of this bull****, new car prices are going up even further.

I am SO glad I moved away from California....

I think they're using the system as a tool to get the government to do more about our polution issues.
This is 2006 for crying out loud, and we are still using a "device" that was designed over a hundred years ago.
The combustion engine should have been gone 20 years ago. Not that I agree with this hybrid crap...that's just a sales gimmick there.
We need to go fuel cell, or something that's zero immissions.
Call me a tree hugger, but we have some serious environmental issues that needed to be addressed long ago. (Not just talked about)
Yes, and much more needs to be done about other pollutants too.

However, I acknowledge that I'm a hypocrite. I drive a car with a V6 engine 60 miles or more daily. (Then again, I don't have much choice in that)

You did see how even the Apocolypse of the future wasn't able to stop him, or that HOT PIECE OF *** that could shape shift and ****. I would have done her, even if she killed me. Damn, but that was OT, he will find you. Don't mess with KAHLIFOURNYA

Hmm, not quite. This device, has evolved many times over. Besides, the wheel was invented thousands of years ago, and yet we still use it... How about something that hits a little closer to home. We were "designed" thousands, millions, whatever you believe, of years ago and we have yet to get a major overhaul... What im saying is not that these things are the best of the best, but it takes longer than a few years to turn the market. We have certainly taken this device a long way since day one.

The countries that can afford to go to hybrid cars or hydrogen, or ethanol (insert your alternative fuel vehicle here) are already driving (for the most part) vehicles that are cleaner and confirm to very strict emmisions laws. The poor countries that cant afford this great new technologies will continue to drive diesels that belch black smoke (not that it doesnt happen here anyway..) and two stroke inefficient motors.

I read somewhere that a Suburban from 20 or 25 years ago with a full tank of gas created more harmful emissions from being parked in a driveway than a new one being driven 25 miles. How can that be some ask? That was before we had "evap" systems in our cars that captured and burned the escaping gas that was evaporating away. Not to mention the raw incomplete burn of the leaded gas we were using. Add that to the oil leaks and all the other horrible chemicals and its an instant nightmare.

I agree that we certainly need a change, but California sure as hell didnt think of the country wide and if not world wide repercussions of such a stupid lawsuit. Besides, how would each manufacturer be held liable? Certainly they didnt all make the same amount of vehicles from inception to this point, and obviously some are more eco friendly than the rest.... Its things like this that just leave you wishing that there was some one person responsible for everything california does so that you can walk up to him and shake his hand, then plant your foot squarely in his testicles...

That one is pretty easy. Damages are based on the "Market Share" theory. Damages are based on the percentage of the market share of each manufacturer, and the percentage of "offending" vehicles produced.

Another reason why I'll be getting the hell out of Cali in 4 years.
For now, the state can pay 1/2 of my college tuition (tuition for out of staters is almost double that of what we pay).
