    help with delay circuit

    i found this awhile back on aaron's page that i would like to use for my car. can anyone help me out with subststuting an npn transistor in place of the momentary switch? i am planning on hooking it into a power wire on my power supply to trigger it. if anyone can tell me which one i need and how to wire it in to the circuit, i would really appreciate it

    A really small reed relay would have the same effect, and is a simple drop in replacement.

    hey...thaks for the quick reply.

    so i just wire the reed relay to my computer power supply to trigger it. and use the switched side in the circuit. i got that part

    can you point me in the right direction of what the hell a reed relay is and do i need just a 12v one and it will work?

    if i power it using the computer power supply there will be current as long as the computer is on. i want to use this circuit to delay the turn-on of the amps so i don't get a pop. if this relay has power going to it all the time-will this still work for me?

    Search Google for reed relay. It will become obvious as to what one is.

    I forgot about the fact that the relay will be triggerd all the time...That may hold the circuit in a continual state of reset, which would be bad. I think your best bet would be to check the datasheet for the 555 timer. It is available at National Semiconductor's site, and has a tonne of timer circuits...You will probably find what you need.
