So basically they can pull you over for a bs reason (don't know if I have been tailgating, not sure, talking in generalities), get a K-9, say that the dog smelled something, and search all your stuff????!??!?!?!?!??!!!???
    Dude,

It does kinda suck what happened to you, but I mean seriously, you're making a pretty big deal about this guy touching your boxers. It's not like you have to eat them...

Just be thankfull that he didn't give you ticket, and next time be more aware of the way you're driving and you might not be pulled over and have some officer's hands on your boxers.....

    (That just sounds soooo wrong....)

No he didn't. I don't do drugs. Again, non-legal standpoint.

they didn't find anything, you didn't get arrested, or even a ticket, there is NO remedy.
What if he dropped pot in my car and told me it was mine? They have the power to **** up your whole life basically.

Well I moved from Germany 3 years ago (that is a free country, too ). I was 18 and had never even talked to a cop in my life. There were 2 police cars for our whole town (15,0000 people, I am being serious!). Crime was low. Wasn't till I went to an American High School when I saw coke and crack for the first time.
The German police had mobile speed cameras and if you speeded (or even tailgated) you got the picture sent to your home, wire transfered the money, and that's it.

Here in the USA it is just crazy with the police. I see 3-4 cop cars on a 15min ride to the grocery store. I got my first ticket for something I absolutely did not do(should have went to court), my second justified (did not ***** a second), and the third time I got pulled over and the cop said "I got you going 81miles (then he sees that I have a radar detector, which of course did not go off)....at least that's what I reckoned since my whole car was shaking when you were driving by" and he gave me a warning. And then this warning today, 2years after the last one.
A couple of weeks ago the sheriffs department knocked on our apartment door at six in the morning, we opened the door and they went straight into the living room (talking about searches), because somebody went missing that night.
None of the cops ever treated me like a human being, they were all complete dicks, no matter what I did or didn't do, even if they just asked for information, or even if I just asked them for directions!!!!
I remember them braking up a party in high school and taking all our ids. **** if somebody in Germany called the cops because our party was too loud the cops would call us and tell us to turn the music down, worked every single time, no 6 police cars necessary to bust the place like here.

It just seems like there are way too many cops here, so many that they need to make stuff up, **** people over (or try to), just so they have work. Don't know if I can get a point out of that at this late hour....but maybe just this...In Germany when I see cops it gives me a sense of security, I know I am safe and nothing is gonna happen...when I see cops here it makes my heart race cause I am afraid they are gonna try to **** me over again....

See, I would much rather have gotten a ticket for something I have actually done than being searched for something I haven't done.

Ok, so maybe a semi loaded to the gills with weed drove by and the officer got a whiff and thought it may be coming from your car. Then when the dog was there another semi full of coke drove by and he thought that may have been coming from your car. Both result in PC. Bad luck for you, but they have the right to search your ****. Get over it. Nobody is saying that you are lying about not having drugs in your car (or at least trying, how many of your friends smoke pot even if you don't? All it takes is a whiff and dogs can smell things that humans never could).

Boo-freaking-hoo! Maybe you should never leave the house and lead the rest of your life in fear that SOMEBODY might so SOMETHING!

Oh no, they treated you the same way that your mother would want the whole neighborhood treated if you went missing? Its a ***** to deal with until you need them on your side looking for your daughter or little sister. Or would you want them spending all thier time in a courthouse trying to get warrants after one of your family members dissappeared? You would understand that and not ***** that they are wasting thier time, right?

Out of curiousity, are you a minority?

Yea, back to the conspiracy theory! Cause theres just not enough crime out there to deal with and everybody in jail is innocent anyway!

Why move back if Germany is so great? Like Wired said, you make certain sacrifices to live in this country. Its the same all over the world.

just get over it will ya. I've been pulled several times.... mind you I live in Belgium, A country with only 11.000.000 people.... ****, they even searched my house for drugs and took me to the police-station for a hearing. And you know what? Canabis is legal in belgium to a certain level, so they had no reason. I've lost more than 1 hour of my precious time, but so what...... DAMN.... I mean, is it really that big to make a fuzz about it? NOTHING HAPPENED, you didn't even get a ticket.... GET OVER IT....

Alright, so then in my opinion dogs should not be enough to get a pc.

My roommate got charged with child molestation because his roommate from last year was throwing a party at their apartment and minors were there getting drunk. My roommate was working when that happened, he arrived, told everybody to go home, and went to sleep. In the middle of the night the cops got him out of his bed. That was a year ago, he is still battling in court, and has paid thousands for his lawyer.

Nothing wrong with waking us up. Wait outside, and treat us like humans! I am the most polite guy to them, why can't they be polite to me?

Not saying that everybody in jail is innocent. I am actually for capital punishment, and I believe that one should be punished harshly for crimes.
But too harsh punishment has an adverse effect. Why do we need that much police here and not in Europe? Seriously...I just don't get it.

2.sucks for him (could be big time) but he shoulda picked a better roommate.

3.Im sure they werent in a good mood havent to be up at 6am, most likely it was towards the end of thier shift, going door to door waking people up with a mom yelling and crying cuz her kid is missing. but none the less im sure they could of been nicer.

I see you live in Florida. Florida is very different from Germany, as is the United States. You realize that the interstate highway system in Florida is one of the major drug supply arteries for the rest of the country, don't you? Drugs are moved in regular vehicles designed to draw little attention. When I lived in Florida over 15 years ago, this was an issue and it still is. The cops there are trained to be suspicious about any car that they stop.

In your case, it sounds like a relatively old car with dark tint being driven fast or at least in a manner that appears to be hurried, by a young male. I'll bet you a lot of money that this fits the profile, at least enough to have a K9 come out an sniff that car -particularly when the driver refuses to consent to a search. It sounds like that dog was nearby, give some thought as to why it is so available? I bet they sniff cars so often that they have a full time dog available. BTW, you didn't mention the time of day when you were stopped. When was it?

Sometimes the cops' suspicion is misplaced, as seems the case here, but as long as there are specific and enforceable rights associated with the exercise of law enforcement, I'm good with it.

As for treating you like a dirtbag, remember that the cops deal almost exclusively with dirtbags who lie to them. The vast majority of people who encounter the cops do so because there is something amiss. A lot of them are guilty and there's no law that requires the cops to treat you like a customer or their friend. Their interests are law enforcement, not becoming your friend.

The other examples you cite are actually good things, in my opinion (except for your friend being caught up in the party with the minors, which, as you admit, really did occur except he wasn't there). Missing family member? I'd want the cops to make every possible effort to find them.

Florida has a high crime rate. For your personal safety, even YOU want the cops to treat anybody suspicious as if they are guilty. It just hurts to know you've done nothing wrong and yet they treat you as if you did. Move to someplace like Birmingham, or Tulsa, or Fargo and you'll find a very different set of dynamics.
