oh man...having my car connect to my house. i dont think i can get much geekier then that.
Im working on it right now i need to find a new 5 v wall wart for the wireless access point though. either that or get the right barrel plug so i can use the molex power connector inside my actual home pc! hahah....

But seriously though..i am working on do it so i can transfer music easier then putting it on my freaking thumb drive and walking out to my car.

My goal is to have house and home fully integrated. with a kitchen pc for music, recipies and everything else....a computer in the kids room with a front end mostly for music and cartoons and **** for them, a media PC for the TV, and then of course the master box. daddy's toy
all on a network with a centralized server for music and movies and ****....And of course a LOCKED DOWN wireless network only my car..and any house guests with a laptop and the code...can access. and by locked down...i mean no war driving. ive parked at toooo many apartment complexes to not have learned that lesson!!! haha....

I will be following this thread closely

Ok, then you WILL have a garage-door opener in the future, right? I rest my case (haven't seen wired for a long time on these forums so I'm playing the lawyer now)

I second that! Hell, I did the computer controlled X-10 thing with my house in Vegas 20 years ago and had pretty much the same if not more control then. Sure I didn't incorporate projectors, but my LCDs and whole property voice control wasn't that far behind what they're talking about. And my x-10s were connected to everything from the coffepot to the jaccuzzi. Sensors followed you throughout the house even shut off the sprinklers when it rained, and covered the pool when it got too cold.

I still use computer controlled X-10s around the house I live in now just for their convenience and security, not nearly as over the top as when I was in Vegas. I keep them now for their laziness factor, i.e., the house SMS's me a pic whenever someone comes to the door and inside it's voice announces whether someones approaching the front or back door.

Like you said I was waiting for the "wow" and was seriously dissappointed.
