SOOO agree. My mom bought her 2004 Sebring Convertible with like 14k miles on it. It is ridiculous how much stuff has broken on that POS, and serious stuff. Effin Oil pump gone after 1 year, airflow sensor, some gearwheel for $400, for some reason all belts had to be replaced because they were cracked (after 2 years, wtf?), drove it off the lot and it drifted to the right, took it to the dealer 5 times and it is still not fixed, too much to mention. Just last week it broke down engine overheated...$300 again for some **** that broke. The 2 doors and trunk deck don't align properly anymore for some reason...have to use brutal force to close it...and that car has never been in an accident or anything. The dashboard is skewed so that the vent grills on the dashboard just popped out, the rubber on the steering wheel is flaking...damn that car is barely 3 years old!!! My friends mom has a 04 chrysler van bought brand spanking new...the leather seats are flaking (and so is the steering wheel), and it has like 40,000 miles on it!!!
I have a 99.5 vw golf with 88k miles on it..the only thing that has EVER been wrong with it in 3 years was the airflow sensor and the wiper motor (did not use it all winter long so the hinges got corroded and killed the motor when I used it again)...and I put 59k miles on that car!

Ah... American Cars. I've got the exact same view as the OT. But IMO, the problem with American cars is the labor force that works on them. The unions... they are the real cause of the **** that comes out of Detroit (and Mexico, and wherever the **** they build the junk).

American cars used to be good. They used to have a nice reputation. But when you hear about families going through 3 American cars and having nothing but trouble with them, and then switching to something Japanese, like a Camry, and having a great experience with them just kills the good will people had when they bought American cars (build by Americans). Now its even more confusing. American cars have a bad rep, and who the hell knows were the car is build? Who expects a Chrystler to be build in Germany?
Word of mouth is a powerful tool, and the American automakers can't put it to good use. In fact, like the OT, word of mouth is being used to support foreign automakers, because who wants to pay for overpriced peices of ****?

Hillbillies and rednecks. NASCAR fans. They love their american cars, even though they are usually sitting on cinder blocks outside their trailers.

    You might be redneck if:
You have a house that's mobile and seventeen cars in the front yard that aren't.
Your home has more miles on it than your car.
Your house has wheels and your car doesn't.

But seriously... the interiors of American cars are ****. A top gear review of the cadillac XLR V roadster said that the Europeans wouldn't even use that kind of plastic on their Fiats.

Well... not talking about cars... Americans can do things correctly. I recently purchased a keyboard off off ebay that was made around the time I was born. The thing is 19 years old, and I'm typing on it right now. It was made by IBM in the USA.
Its not that we want bad products, but its just that we aren't willing to pay for the quality. After IBM sold its division to Lexmark, the quality of these keyboards diminished.
BTW: I'm talking about the IBM clicky keyboards, the ones that make that loud noise when you press the key, because each key has its own little switch sitting under it.
