OMFuelPrices - Fuel price plugin for OM Status : In progress

This thread is just to help me stay motivated.

Basically this is a combination of my Gas, Petrol, Carburant and Benzin plugins all in one plugin.

I have done the same for Centrafuse and porting to OM should be fairly easy as they are both in .net and the main code is separated from the main form. Just the way the display is handled is different.

    Features
    ---------
    Search via Postcode
    Save searches per Postcode
    Load previously saved searches
Get Postcode from GPS Coords (Normally this is got from the FE, but may have to have a comport set up inside plugin and read nmea data directly)
Route to selected station (Not sure how this will work yet with the available Nav engines)

    Fuels supported
    ---------------

    US - Unleaded,Plus,Premium,Diesel
    UK - Unleaded,Super Unleaded,Diesel,Premium Diesel,LPG,LRP
    France - SP98,SP95,Gas+,Gas,GPL,E85,E10
    Germany - Diesel,BioDiesel,Normal,Plus,Super Plus,LPG (Autogas),ERD (Erdgas)

    Frequently Asked Questions.

    Q. I don't have an internect connection in my car, can I still use this.

    A. Yes, run this on your home PC obviously you will need to be running OpenMobile on the PC as well. Save the info and then copy the saved files folder

    Q. I put in a new Postcode but the stations haven't changed or updated.

    A. It is most likely the site does not have any stations near the zipcode you have entered or you do not have a connection to the internet.

    Q. You have done CFFuelPrices for the US,UK,France and Germany any chance of doing it for <Insert Country here>?

    A. If you can find a website for your country that show the prices against individual stations, is searchable by postal code or GPS coords and doesn't show the price as a graphic, then post a link and I will have a look.

    Q. How can I download this wonderful creation?

    A. This is still in development so is not downloadable yet

    Q. I have registered on your site but am still not activated, why?

    A. I do not monitor the forum registrations 24/7 so it could take hours or possibly a day or two before I can activate you. If I am going away I will normally put this info into the news section of the forum. If however after a few days of registering you have not been activated then contact me via PM here. Make sure you use the same username as you do on here, it will help you get activated quicker.

    +1 very nice!

Nav should be done by next weekend so i'll get you the update as soon as its finished. For now, if you use the "navigateToAddress" function it will popup the navstub showing the destination. In the next version theres a locationChanged event that is fired every time you enter a new town/city which makes it very convenient to lookup the local gas prices. You can also get the raw GPS coordinates though if you want to go that route.

Well the way I work with the other FE's is

I can receive my current GPS coords from them. ie a GPS.lat and GPS.lon function.

I can send the GPS coords back to the FE (and subsequently onto the nav engine) and then send a navigate command, which tells the Nav engine to navigate to the GPS points it has.

Now I can if need be I can work with raw NMEA data. And send an address, but addresses tend not to be as good as GPS coords.

No need for two steps...you can use gps cordinates or a full address...both are available.
    For setting data:
The navigate to address function can take either a street address or a gps address ex:
    navigateToAddress, "-74.341,110.300"
although the nav-stub plugin may not accept the gps cordinates i don't remember how i set it up.

    For getting data:
the pluginHosts getData function (in the next version) allows you to get either the current address or the current gps position (lat/long). Although if you really only care when the position is a new city/town/zipcode you can listen for the nav event locationChanged (again next version-sorry) which gives city, state, zip as an argument.

    Navigate to is fine.

Will need my plugin to be able to send a command for the navigation to show.

The plugin only needs the GPS coords when the GPS button is pressed. No need for it to continuously monitor the GPS coords.

I have a couple of bugs for you, will get full details next time I work on it. (taking a break now I am off shift, back on Friday)

    1. Sometimes when OM crashes out, it will keep crashing next time you run it. Looks like the SQL thingy is getting corrupt. First time it happened I re-installed the whole folder and it was fine. Next time I tried deleting specific parts to find why it was happening you know the settings in D&S, the registry etc. I then again did a whole delete and re-install of folder but it still happened, then I remember I didn't copy the 32 bit SQ dll across. doing that fixed it. which leads me to think it is getting corrupt when OM crashes out.

    2. If you bring up the media buttons on the main menu and then click a plugin button, the media buttons stay up over the top of the plugin but the media button itself disappears and because the the media buttons then cover the back button you can't get out of the plugin.

I gave you the first version after feature development had finished...theres been about 3 beta runs since then so the actual product should be a lot more stable. Still waiting for the latest to get the thumbs up but I think it should be publicly available then (hopefully later today). If theres still a bug then, let me know.
