I might like to make use of this. I am fortunate that my CarPC has one com port. But its in use by HD Radio.
Will it work with a USB/RS232 adapter?
Do you use a serial port and the DTR line to turn on your amps after boot up? No more messing with external programs or windows services. OM plugin is here.
Yup, I am using a USB adapter myself. As always your mileage my vary when using the adapters. Some of them just don't like to work. If you do some searching around you can find the various circuits you can use to do this. They are pretty simple.
I also have updated this to be able to use either the DTR or RTS lines.
windows it should be good to go.
Failure is not an option...
The only full multizone / multiscreen cross platform open source Front End -> OpenMobile
It's my understanding that some of the cheaper USB-serial cables support only tx/rx and not DTR/RTS, etc. So, it's probably a good idea to stick with cables that have been proven to work, or that explicitly say they support the required signals.
My board only has (12)usb 2.0, firewire, esata and no serial. which is the best cable to get for DTR/RTS? brand cable?
and also can you use one of these usb/serial adapters for hd radio or other modules?
