How about some suggestions? I am more than happy to make adjustments, especially if it takes us to a better looking skin.

I liked the original approach with the four corners better (but that's my personal taste), You can still cover more screens with that approach to. You could "slide" out an menu when the corresponding colored area is "long" clicked (ie. held). Doing this would allow for a far greater amount of screens, and it would open up for grouping of similar screens.
    Failure is not an option...

Here are a few screen shots I worked on after Borte posted this. Thanks for helping!!

Please disregard the borders of the gif files. I can fix those later.

I am not sure where to take if from here. I think I have the concept and layouts finished. I have been reading and watching a lot of videos about c# and also have been looking at a lot of .cs files for the repository others have posted.

    Looks good!

If you want to create a skin out of it you have to break your concept images down to separate pieces. Each item has it's own graphic in OM. It does not use the single image approach that RR uses.

So each "menu button" (green, blue, red, purple) should have it's own separate images one for "highlight" state and one for "normal" state. These images should all be png with the proper transparency and other effect set properly. The same goes for your scrolling items. They have to be broken down into separate items.
    Failure is not an option...

I made all of this in Gimp, so I have different layers for all of the color sections, highlights, backgrounds, etc. All animations are also setup in layers.

As I still understand it, the skinning tool hasn't been worked on in a long time, so it's a LOT of programming if you want a plugin or something to look/work different than it does on the default skin. At least the grunt work that interacts with the core of the framework can be used, but you're going to have to program all the user interactive parts yourself (at least for now). If you ever get stuck or need hints, help, or anything, the examples/repository are a great help, and we here will offer help too. The dev team helped me a bunch with trying to understand how to code to work with their framework, really helpful, great!

EDIT: Great look so far, I like it being more colorful/stand out than the default. Keep at it!

I agree with Borte here. I like the colors and the wheel thing makes for many menu items.

Ok, here is the first concept screen based on a Radio FM selection. Not quite completed and would like some suggestions. I know to add the Artists name, current song, current song / total songs ratio, and progress bar.

What else should be added to this screen?
    Please comment.

I am still not 100% sure where to start. I will take tonight and learn more about what OM resources are available to better understand what code needs to be written. But I am just shooting from the hip.

^overall, i like it. it is relatively clean, and puts all the info right in front of the user.

i am still not crazy about all the colors.. though i really can't think of a good suggestion to correct it-- i agree that the color helps separate the options, but it 'just don't look right'...

something i don't see planned is a volume control. most users are going to need it(i use a external solution)--in terms of simplicity, that is one control that should need to stay in the same place for all selections.
