I vote for keeping the "Now Playing" info visible like this while in the music player mode. And actually in my Android this does display, just not at the same time as the track list. But your version works for me.
Thanks! But I was more-so asking about the artist - songname and ratings displayed on the bottom bar, not the music plugin. So you can quickly see those instead of opening the notification bar everytime you want to see what's played...

I've had a long night of trying to implement widgets, well at least what can act like widgets. I modified the main menu code so any plugin can send a string of controls to be added onto the screens on all the home screens. They start invisible, and only certain ones display when you select the widget to display. As of right now there are 2 areas designated on every home screen for widgets to displayed. Also, right now only images and labels can be accepted. Basically, the way it's set up right now, a widget is designed on the fly, so a plugin can change the look of their widget controls anytime they please. The code is just started and this is a rough implementation so far.

I tried 1 attempt so far at trying to update the displayed widgets, and keep track of which ones are active, but I have to re-think that part of the design when I'm refreshed. For now, here's 2 screens with the same widget, but in the different spots.

Well, this is a sad update today...

I cannot for the life of me figure out a workaround to get cross plugin/panel talk going. The whole ordeal of sending certain strings through theHost.sendMessage was completely scrapped and a new androidFunctions class was created and referenced. This had sendNotification and buildWidget functions which would fill 2 tables created in sqlite depending on the screen that passed in. Then, I threaded a poller for each screen for notifications, and again for widgets. The pollers constantly scan the tables for any plugins which had send data for a notification or widget.

Upon changing all the code and implementing the new additions, it has taken a good amount of my time, and the end result isn't worth it. There is now slowdown in OM when there is data in the tables to be analyzed, ranging from 1 second to 5 seconds in my testing of playing music and switching panels...

I realize that my first implementation of this is pretty rugged, as some timestamps or something to fire off a threaded event would work better than a constant poller. I have tried raising an event once and it ran on the same thread as other ui/mainmenu code, so it slowed the program down as well.

At this time, I'm not sure what to do with the skin. I was trying to implement these as features of the android skin, to be used anywhere from any plugin if desired, but without them it just doesn't feature much different other than looks to the default skin. I'm well open to any suggestions!

I've spent the past couple of days searching, and searching, and searching.... For some type of .Net compatible IMAP library. After much downloading sources, compiling them, decompiling other dll's, and piecing together samples of code I've yet to find anything to work, until tonight!

Tonight I found a .Net library that was listed as free and could be distributed as compiled with NO restrictions. So I loaded up the example app, connected to my gmail account, and could navigate through my inbox or any other labels that I had set up. So I started piecing together what I could in my own test app, and I successfully created an app that can pull down all my emails from a folder/label. *I do not know about sending emails yet, but I know a simple smtp could be used for that*

Given that, I started a new plugin to make use of this new library. Considering I have set up profiles already for the Music plugin to make use of, I have a design idea of allowing, at the start at least, a google account and password to be linked to the profile. Then, the new library will use the profile credentials supplied to populate the new gmail plugin.

I'm pretty excited that I finally found a way to do this, and it's going to be a while before the plugin can be completed, but it's a very very good start!

On the actual stuff I've been working at, the new implementation of widgets are performing well and there is no more slowdown noticed. I even created a simple clock widget that constantly runs and updates nonstop, and it didn't effect OM, so I am happy.

Been a while since I've done an update here...

Been slowly updating code to be compatible with all the new commits. Got most of the zone adding/editing stuff done and most of all the current code updated. Still mustering through some music code changes and smoothing out the skin overall.

I've also spent a little time working with a new free 3rd party library for IMAP stuff. After I get the basic functionality down, I'll convert the look to join in with the default skin as well. So far, it just reads a folder/label, but it's smooth. Planned is checking for emails every so often and basic email sending. I don't think much else is needed in the car very a first version of the gmail plugin. Here is my mp3car folder loaded through the gmail plugin (can you tell what thread's been popular today lol)...

Re-invent what wheel? The graphics? I'm not, I'm not a graphical guy at all. I grabbed some free images/icons to use for the time being. Besides, that link/site all was about images or whatnot at $2 - $6...

I don't have much to update since the last time, haven't done much on it really since, but I'm sure I'll get back into doing it and keeping at it after Easter (on vaca ).

A little though: Basic smtp sending through gmail plugin is done.
