Thread: Android-ish Theme Request

Glad to hear you're still around. How was 30 days without electronics (except cell calls)? I don't think I'd be able to do it, hehe!

Andrew, hope you are still following this thread. From the zip you uploaded with separate images:

Template0009 - what is this image for?
Template0017 - image with a lock, what is this for?
Template0024 - home screen indexes (non-highlighted). can this be split to 1 image please (just like the highlighted one, but non-highlighted)?

Template0027 / Template0033 - same right arrow, just fyi in case you meant it to be something else
Template0028 / Template0034 - same left arrow, just fyi in case you meant it to be something else
^ these arrows are for media controls previous/next, correct?

Template0040 - looks like refresh icon normally on a browser - any other use or is a browser refresh it?
Template0041 - looks like half a browser refresh icon (one arrow)?

Requests:
Image for "apps" - the home image and apps image will switch back and forth so just need an apps image to complete.
Image for "settings"
Image for blanks - just a 'semi-transparent' blank image that flows with the green-ish theme. These will be semi-displayed on home screens where 'apps'/'plugins' would be placed.
Image for artists
Image for albums
Image for tracks

I'll provide another update later this week. Currently working on the music plugin placing controls at the moment. Fixing up little bugs/issues in the ui/main menu sections as well.

It was hard in still bit doing some things like video games for a few weeks.

Wow, forgot this thread was here... a few updates regarding this skin. I picked up work again, but since over the holiday season I acquired a low end android phone (finally woot!) I can play around and get first hand experience. In doing so, I had to start re-writing a good bit of code to accommodate how the os works on the phone ...

Anyways, no screens yet, as the gui layouts aren't pretty, but code is working. Plus I have placeholder blocks as I'm in need of some images (anyone interested let me know).

Dynamic settings button on the bottom bar, always visible, goes to a "settings" panel supplied by the appropriate currently displayed plugin. Acts like the button on my phone that pops up some options dependent on the app I'm currently in. If I'm on the main menu and click it, I'll get certain display settings, but if I'm music, I have choices to change music directories, clear/index music again, sorting options, etc...

Added 3 media buttons always available, as I feel like they are good editions to have available at a quick need, took them out of the notification panel (less clicks to do more used stuff). Prev. song, play/pause, next song.

Notifications bar now has a clock in top right. Left side has icons for 4 plugins, any more will add a "+" icon so you know more notifications await your attention. They appear first come first serve from plugins using them, viewable in the list as well. Text area available for any plugin to write to as well. I tried to get them to act like the real notification bar and I'm still testing it, but atm it's working ok and pretty close to the real thing.

Completely re-hauled how plugins are added to the home screens, and now it's truly android like .

Some more little things, but those are the majors. I purposely negated all other plugins except for the music, ui, and main menu. Once those are good, I'll move on to other plugins. Hoping in about a week or so I'll have images up.

In the meantime, anyone that thinks they might wanna help with lining controls/images/buttons on the guis, let me know please.

Glad to see you're still working at it. And what a bonus getting an Android phone Certainly allows you to get a feel for it.

And I believe Borte will be getting a short break from his road trip soon and hopefully he will get a chance to drop us a line.

Good to see there's still some progress here!

I'm back from my trip now and wont be away for another one for a few weeks (hopefully), which judging by the amount of reading up I have to do is a good thing.

Anyway, I should be able to get some work and support down again so if there's anything I can help with give me a shout!

Is OpenMobile android based?

No. OpenMobile is C/VB .net based. A skin (theme) is being developed to make it look like Android

Well in that case I like the skin a lot, it's clean and polished but I don't like the android logo as it's not android. Kind of like putting the Acura/Honda "Type R" sticker on a Nissan. But I do like the layout and look of the skin

As I'm only do the coding behind the skin/theme, everything is open to any suggestions/improvements/whatnot...

I'm not a graphical guy at all. I've never bothered learning any of the graphics programs or anything. I like working with the actual code at hand. To me that's fun.

So, if you or anyone else have any opinions please keep them coming. If you or anyone else could help out with images that would be really appreciative. For now, the logo stays as that's the only background image I have for the theme. Hmm, I think now I'll have to create the option of changing the background images, thanks for the inspiration!
