    Not even the top bar?

Might be a permissions thing? Try "sudo mono /path/to/OpenMobile.exe"

So, speaking of visualization plugins, I kind of have an idea of how I would like it to eventually work.

Full screen vis in the background, but with play/pause/etc buttons like along the bottom, with some transparency. (Like a black arrow for play, with a semi-transparent button around it, and the same for the rest)

And then have the title/song info somewhere else, maybe along the top.

Back button or something to go back to main screen somewhere, again with like black text and an alpha blended button surrounding it.

I would also like the option to have a clock that was a decent size and decent looking somewhere in there as I always like a nice big readable clock.

Also I have thrown together a lil c# app that will be able to log gps coordinates (party for the crowd sourced map project, and partly because I want time/speed/location logs)

Also I built in the capability to sync the pc clock to the GPS time. I could possibly make this into some sort of plugin for this or just leave it as a standalone app.

I am still debating on whether to log into a sql db or just log in text...

Ok i just tried it on 9.10...

Theres the known issue that 0.4 was packaged wrong so you need to rename halfButton.png and halfButton.Highlighted.png to HalfButton.png and HalfButton.Highlighted.png (aka capitalize first letter). But even if that were the case you should see black boxes.

Only thing I can guess is try clicking inside the window and see if it transitions in then. I think that may be a mono bug but it could have also been something I fixed and forgot about. I'll know for sure when 0.5 goes through linux compatibility testing *before* the release.

Any chance you have a sample of doing semi-transparency over moving images/video? Last time I looked into it, its much more difficult then it seems.

That will all be native to the framework along with long/lat->zipcode lookup when navigation is complete. For now navigation is the one area thats being avoided until the rest is complete.

I guess I will have to wait and test a 0.5 version to see what happens

Sadly, no. I was just hoping for something like that

What if instead of trying to draw transparent images over a video, you instead made the video semi-transparent showing any controls underneath, and have them "clickable" through the video? Would that be easier/do-able? If possible, I'm sure a skinner could find a slick way of making this approach look pretty good. [thinking outside the box here]

It sounds like it would work but in reality it would have the opposite effect. Semi-transparent video is even more difficult to do (each frame of video needs to be blended with whats below it). Not to mention we are trying for conrols with ~80% opacity and in order to do that using the above method the video would need to be ~20% which would barely be visible.
We can overlay solid controls of any shape onto video (which I haven't seen any of the other FE's do yet). The problem is when any type of transparency is used to draw over video, windows blends with whatever is under the video instead of the video itself. Im trying to find a way to trick it using the alpha channel of a PNG but from everything i've tried it seems like the functionality is just not there. In order to mix semi-transparent images over the live video we would need to mix directly with the video stream which really limits any type of 3rd party video.

Yup...and i finally found the problem with the transitioning. try clicking the window and it should transition.
It's due to either a bug in mono or the way linux/mono handle rendering. In either case, theres now a workaround in the code that works on both platforms.

I have a few projects on the ToDo list you might be interested in. I just got approval to use the BASS library in the project, which as you may know, uses winamp visualizations and supports just about every format ever created.
