I understand that it may be more a function of each plugin, but I would dearly love to see some sort of Auto Volume Control.

I, like many I'm sure, have an MP3 collection in which the volume varies among each title/track. And yes, there are some utilities out there to help correct that. But most cost money and take a very long time to go through and test each file.

Perhaps I'm clouded in my thinking and this really may not be practical. I don't know much about the inner workings of such things. So feel free to "educate" me on the matter

There are actually many programs that are freely available that will do this for you (pretty quickly too). For example if you let windows media player index your music collection it will normalize each mp3 as it adds it to the library. Other free ones include winamp, itunes, and some smaller specialty programs.

But if you don't want to go through all that then the next best option is to enable volume normalization on-the-fly. If you have a codec pack installed, it also installs FFDShow. If you open the FFDShow audio configuration, click Volume and then enable normalization, it will keep your music playing at a certain volume (that you can set).

I have been asked to come up with concepts for OM. I agree that eLite Lite would work and look better with animations. I've been playing around with some ideas, nothing that I really like right now. The main problem that I am having is that OM is a work in progress and still lacks some of the main basic functions as Ride Runner. For me the functions are important when coming up with ideas. However as more progress has been made it looks really good. Hopefully in future releases it will become easier and faster to build skins and make them more dynamic.

I am going to keep tossing some ideas around and hopefully come up with something similar to eLite Lite, but something a little new. Elite Lite is almost 3 years old and needs a change up.

What sort of missing functions are you thinking of?

Little things like how the music files get sorted, or big things like plugins that haven't been developed yet?

If it's little things, perhaps you could use your skin to motivated development to close the gap. If it's big things... well, I for one would be happy to see a skin that supports just the existing stuff. If/when I start using OM, it will be for music only (and phone integration, when that's ready). Everything else I can about can be done with external apps.

So excited to here you are working on this.

I think the new build is coming soon and after looking at it maybe you can think of more ideas.

The current build is definitely in its infancy.

pretty hopeful myself, was actually pondering snagging a few of your icon templates to see what i could pull together for my own OM skin.

i can't remember if I read this, or if I already added it as a request, but along the skinning lines..

would it be possible to have a skin require a "default button" that is always blank.. and have plugins require an "icon" file, that way any skin can be compatible with any plugin?

I can't remember who requested it (i think it may have been internal to the dev team) but we added support for icons for each skin/plugin. Just need to add in support for the skin designer to set them.

The default button is going to be a bit trickier because not everyone follows guidelines, but the image named FullButton should always be a standard looking empty button that fits in with the theme (and well have to just pester any skinners that leave them out).
