    I feel stupid ..

    Hi guys,

    I downloaded OpenMobile to test it .. and it looks very promising but, as I said, I really don't understand how to make it work ...

    I tried to play with 'OpenInstaller' int the 'Tools' directory but couldn't manage to get anything else than the beautiful but unuseful 9 buttons ...

    I read the forum and so on, but couldn't find any info or 'HowTo' that could help noobs like me to use the soft ..

    Thanks in advance for your help ..

    Hi NaGa,

    I'll try to help you a bit on the way, JustChat_1 will probably be able to help you more than me but I'll give it a try.

    OpenMobile is still in a beta stage so it's too early to expect a fully working system but you should be able to play music with it.

    To be able to play music you have to press "Media" on one of thoose nine buttons (if you don't see it just hold one of the nine buttons and you should get a menu where you can select that action for the current button) and then press "Settings" to bring up a window where you can input your music folder. Also change the "DataBase" field from "None" to "OMMediaDB".
    If you wish you can also select the red checkbox, this will cause OpenMobile to search for and update the database with new music on every startup of the program.
    After doing all of the above press Save and close OpenMobile.

    Restart OpenMobile and wait a while to let it index your music (time will wary depending on how much music you have). If I remember correctly you'll get a message saying "indexing complete" when it's done.

    Then you should see your music when you press the media button. To control playback you can press the "Media" in the lower part of the screen. This should bring up an controlbar for playback.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers
    Borte

    Thanks alot for this answer, it works.

    As this is beta, I suppose the following info may be interesting :

    I couldn't select the directory containing MP3's on my PC as this is the e:\ drive and I just can't reach it using the path selection screen (I can see Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, C:\ and the top of the D:\ drive letter) using arrows didn't help. I also tried to find a configuration file containing the path, I couldn't find it).

    I fixed the problem by hiding the 'D:\ drive' using the disk manager so I could select the E:\ by 'guessing'

    Indexing never started, I selected OMMediaDB and clicked on 'index at startup' and closed OpenMobile but restarting it never started the index process (I don't see any disk activity on my MP3's drive which is USB and contains 19Gb music). Since that, OpenMobile is crashing very often, it looks like indexing makes it crash. Even if I 'run as an administrator'.

    If I can help in any way .. just ask

    ************** Débogage JIT **************
    Pour activer le débogage juste-à-temps (JIT), le fichier de configuration pour cette
    application ou cet ordinateur (machine.config) doit avoir la valeur
    jitDebugging définie dans la section system.windows.forms.
    L'application doit également être compilée avec le débogage
    activé.

    Par exemple*:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    Lorsque le débogage juste-à-temps est activé, les exceptions non gérées
    seront envoyées au débogueur JIT inscrit sur l'ordinateur
    plutôt que d'être gérées par cette boîte de dialogue.

    Sorry I missed this thread I was on vacation.....ok where should I begin->it seems like you have the app running correctly your just having trouble with using it. All of your drives are available in the path selection screen but what you are looking at is a dragable list, similar to how an iphone or android list scrolls just click and "throw" the list to scroll down. At the bottom you will find your "E:\" drive.

    As far as the blank buttons go, like it says on the release announcement press and hold a button to assign it.
