Streetdeck uses it's own nav engine with Navteq maps. It works, it has some little annoyances. I don't think you would find an OM add-in using it.

I waiting for a more useable OpenMobile so I can order up Garmin PC Mobile and try it all out. I have not heard that it uses satellite imagery though.

PS: I'm not an OM developer, just guessing.

Actually it uses the DeCarta navigation engine (http://www.decarta.com/) they just like taking credit for everything. Visually it is excellent, but 90% of the things its capable of were never implemented.

But yea like you said its certainly not something that will be coming to openMobile. Not that it would be difficult, but considering this project hasn't received even $0.01 in donations, we would never be able to afford the initial licensing fee.

how much up front cost would it take to buy?

I think it has a lot of potential and if it could be done with a group buy that would be awesome.

justchat_1 do you prefer GMPC with OpenMobile?

I don't remember which company gave which quote...I think it was 5K. And thats only an sdk, actually putting together a fully integrated design takes hundreds of hours of work.

As of now gmpc is preferred but well see what happens as other nav software is integrated.
